Ron Rivera Fired

I only follow snippets of NFL and the Panthers but it looked like it was time for a change.

Hit the road Riverboat Rivera....

Don't go away mad... Just go away.

Even worse Colon Kopaknee was seen in Uptown Charlotte yesterday at one of the ritzy clubs ... future Panther with Reid?

When Rivera is expected to soar with the Eagles but you make him work with the Turkeys (Cam) what the hell do you expect??

The roster is better than 5 and 7. He has lost the team. If you lose to the Redskins you should be fired.

PS I am a life long Redskins fan

They are friends. Kap will never play in the NFL again. Which from a pure talent stand point is sad because lesser QBs like RG3, Colt Mcoy, Fitzpatrick etc.... all still have jobs on the NFL. o_O

Last two games were really close and the Panthers should have won. Im not bummed about Riverboat Ron, let's see how the rest of the season plays out, but Im sure playoffs are off the table at this point.

If you want to run a sports franchise like an investment brokerage, you at least have to hold the right person accountable. In this case, that wasn't the HC. The HC isn't responsible for the roster. That's the GM's job. Blaming the HC for losing when you're deep into your bench is ridiculous.

I don't watch Football, but I've never understood why the coach doesn't get to select his team.

I liked Rivera, but in the almost 9 years he'd been coach only three winning seasons so it was time for a change.
Norv Turner removed as oc was also a good move.

The loss to the Foreskins sealed the deal. They also could not BUY a win at home, which is bad in the long run for any football team. He had lost the team, and had to go. Hurney also needs to be unemployed for good. He was okay picking up some talent but the Panthers like to develop talent for other teams, like Norman and a few others who should've never ran into contract issues. If you can't look ahead when you're winning, you'll have a hard time getting back there consistently.

That's what the Patriots are great at. Well that and cheating.

The structure of how a your typical NFL team is screwy........a head coach may have to answer to a GM, owner, director of personnel, etc..... Head coach should be in charge and let the coach have total control of football decisions. If the team isnt making a run in the playoffs within 4 years......get rid of the coach.

College football is much the opposite....head coach usually runs the show. Thats the way it should be.

As a continued Redskins fan, we are used to losing and mediocre teams. We need a coach, a QB, A running back, and a secondary. You can have Norman back, he hasn't done anything but get burnt on big play, after big play. He has had 7 interceptions in 4 years.

Maybe the Panthers will go after Dabo Swinney (Clemson Head coach) on Saturday when he is up to Charlotte for the ACC championship.

I like Tepper's style and I'm sure there a bunch of worried Panther player's wondering who's next to be booted. Too many loafers on that team and the Tepper man comes to town with the desire to win, better days are coming for the fans.

He was a great man. Lots of community involvement. The time I met him he was very nice to a poor man. It is time. 9 years is double the time a coach gets to show success. The talent has been their for him and Fox. They play too conservative until they get behind. I hope they go after the Steelers coach. Letting him go now gives the Panthers a chance to get on the list of coaches wanting to make a move when the season ends.

I thought he was fired a couple years ago and in actuality I think he was but the paperwork just fell thru the cracks. When you are a billionaire, s#it happens, things get lost, you can't remember where the stadium is or what state it is in. Those sort of things. I can relate.
