I've stopped in at almost all the (NOT Dicks) stores looking for .440 round balls. Almost all BP supplies are being phased out with very little stocked. A box of 100 would last me a year (may change) so I'm not looking for 'bulk'.

Looks like mail order unless there is a store in the N. CLT area? I don't mind going to Cabela's in SC (60mile RT) if I know they have somewhat of a selection.

No, I'm not casting, sorry, not going there (yet).

You can check Cabellas website and I think it links to the store inventory. They have a big selection of bullets but have slimmed up in most other reloading areas.

Well what do you know... They have some at both SC stores. I'll be driving past the Greenville, SC store when I drive to ATL. I can wait till then.

The Sportsman's Warehouse in Asheville carries Hornady lead round balls.

I just bought a box of 100 Hornady .440 round balls for my brother this morning at Sportsman's Warehouse in Wilmington. SW has a fairly good selection of black powder substitutes / supplies. There is one in G'boro too.

Hate to tell you this, but you're probably going to end up casting.

Many of the places were you could previously get stuff for BP are dropping this stuff from their inventory. It's not malicious, just economics. Inventory sitting on a shelf is money wasted. When most of what is selling is being sold to the centerfire crowd, BP is taking a very distant back seat. From my POV, muzzleloading and black powder in general isn't as popular as it was years ago when compared to pew pew. Whatever the reason, the net result is bp supplies will become harder to find.

Get a mold and you'll never lack for bullets. I cast for lots of bp guns and haven't bought a bp bullet in years.
