So, I have just acquired one of these. A Ruger 10/22 model 1230 with factory bull barrel, Hogue stock, and bipod. Is this a discontinued model? I don't see it on the Ruger website and google attempts show out of stock everywhere.
Looks like a solid rifle. Anybody have experience with one? And what would be a nice optic for this? Also, any idea on the current value?

was selling new for around $430 when it was discontinued

did it come with a BX trigger from Ruger?

maybe try one of the Hawke Rimfire BDC 3-9x scopes, they have two different models one for SV and one for HV, the reticles are 'calibrated' reasonably priced and good glass

A 10/22 was the first gun I purchased when I turned 18, 38 years ago. I still have and love shooting it.
If you're keeping it, and it has the std OEM trigger, I'm here to help you spend your $. They're fun guns you can easily spend a lot more than one should on them.
Choice #1 Kidd trigger upgrade

Choice #2 Volquartzen

You can get a lot of info here as well

Even just the Kidd "Trigger job kit" is awesome. Not cheap. but worth every penny.
I'd also buy a Kidd Extractor and have it ready to change if you shoot a lot. The stock ones are a weak link, imo.

...I bought one new/old stock April 2020. BX trigger is standard and it's ok; clean break but a little heavy. Best bit is the barrel. With some @100 yard testing and then some playing around with the stock bolt torque it's shooting 10 rounds subMoA from indoor 20m to 100 yards outdoor gallery...a few other mods but it's basically standard... enjoy!
