I didn't realize that Ruger had released this model recently, and only found it by accident while searching on their website on Sunday AM.Kind of a "mini scout rifle" without the LER scope mount, and I am sure the aftermarket will produce one if demand is there. I am thinking that this will be my first firearm purchase in 2018!
Pro:
-Light weight at about 6 lbs.
-Short 16" barrel that is threaded for a can.
-Accepts mini 30 magazines!
-Adjustable trigger
-$400-$450 retail price
-Overall favorable reviews on youtube
Con:
-I don't love the plastic stock w molded in trigger guard, but Ruger had to make it work at a lower price point so I guess I can forgive them.
-Very new platform and not sure about overall accuracy, however this round isn't a tack driver anyway.
-One online reviewer commented that the overall quality is like a "factory made zip gun."

I have a good supply of this ammo, and have been wishing for a CZ 527 for a year or so but they are a bit spendy. It looks like I could be "all in" with the Ruger rifle and a Leupold Vx-1 scope in 1-4 power for less than the CZ by itself. This would be a fun plinker using center fire ammo, possible trunk gun, and viable as a hunting rifle within 200 yards. I could get a lot of utility on this.

Anyone else looking at this one? Thoughts, Comments?

I have a RAR in 308. Made first year they were in production. It's an economy bolt gun but it will shoot minute of deer and I've taken several with it. I paid $400 out the door at a gun show. Light weight and I dont care if it gets banged around in the woods. I would take it in the woods today if I had a place to hunt.:(

Not looking because piss broke. But yeah that was my thoughts. Nice 1-6 scope and Bob's your mother's brother.

You could just put a red dot or prism scope on it. For a plinker or all around truck gun that would work. Just depends how crazy you want to get. Might make a nice pig gun.

My cousin bought a Ruger American in x39, and put a Burris Fullfield II 2-7x35 on it. It’s slightly over 1” with steel case Russian ammo.

Very nice. There's lots of decent domestic brass ammomout there so he likely could improve a little bit too. Sounds like a real shooter.

I reload for for my ARP barreled 7.62x39 AR15, and I’ve worked up some loads that regularly produce 3/4” groups. He reloads, but is not set up for x39 yet. I’ll help him, because I believe that bolt rifle will be even more accurate.

My dad has always wanted a bolt action x39. He is the biggest fan of that caliber next to @Majicmike . He has several SKS’s and several AR’s in that caliber.

I’ve got 3 AR’s in x39, one in 6.8, and one in 22 Nosler. The x39 rifles get shot the most because of dirt cheap ammo. Despite the old tales of x39 not being accurate, I’ve found that even Russian ammo is accurate in a good barrel. Good handloads and brass cased factory ammo are very accurate in that same barrel.

I like my x39 AR so much it just got a scope and is gonna serve as my deer rifle rest of the year

Which scope did you get? My ARP barreled rifle has a Minox 3-9x40, and my PSA barreled rifle has a Nikon Buckmasters 3-9x40. My beater gun has a Bushnell red dot.

That CZ527 is a fine rifle. I’d like to have one, but the Ruger or Howa are more in my price range.

From what I have heard they are all good, just depends on your preferences. There is also something to be said for synthetic stocks if you are using and abusing it a little.

Picked up that Bushnell AR Optic 4.5-18 that Tailhunter had for sale.

That CZ is a beautiful rifle. The plastic stocked rifles will never look that good.

Nope, but my 527 is pretty much a range toy. If I was carrying it in the woods on a regular basis I'd probably want something different. I've got a really pretty 1911, but it doesn't go to the mountains when I take down trees and cut wood.

I’ve got a Ruger Gunsite Scout with a laminated stock that’s also a range toy, so I understand. It’s one I want to keep looking good.

Don't have any X39s anymore. So, not interested, but I have an RAR in 300blk. Love it. Wish it took AR mags though... I've considered the 223 version as another rifle option in a caliber I already own...

I had the 300 BLK and also loved it. Super light weight until I put a huge nvs on it.

Gettin ready to cut mine down to 8"
Definitely post pics when you do. I'm back to the I want a 300blk pdw that's 5.5 inches...

I will. May be a bit with all that life has got me into right now, but my stamp is back so no rush and I can do it whenever... From what I've seen/read, you really need 8" to maximize the round. 1 full twist at least for the big subs.

Oh it would be a dedicated suppressor host.

I finally got to shoot my cousins Ruger. He hasn’t adjusted the trigger yet, but it’s pretty crisp, and around 5 pounds. My handloads were well under 1”, and the Ruger just feels good. I’ll have one after Christmas

You will like it......I self-gifted for Christmas myself.

Looks like this model is on my short list, actually it gets longer as I'm tapped out too!
I'm sure Boyd's and others will offer laminated stocks shortly.

I've got this in 300blk, love it. If I was an AK guy I could see having one in x39, but otherwise no. The chief selling point of x39 over 300blk is cheap ammo, but for a bolt action it's not like you're going to be going through cases of ammo. If you have any desire to shoot subsonic it's a no brainer IMHO, I messed around with x39 subs for a while but they are not the easiest things to reload (crimped primers, anyone?) and there is so much more out there for 300blk in that area.
