Several manufacturers have different end caps and can change length now.

I know. I almost wish I had waited and bought one. I don't get how it works though. It's not just extra suppressor parts, but different(and smaller than the caliber) endcaps. If spare parts aren't legal, and caliber changes (down) aren't legal, how is this?

I'm just salty because I wanted to get a 9mm endcap and can't, and couldn't even legally swap my 45 cap for a 9mm cap. I think it's stupid. Even considering how stupid the whole NFA silencer thing is in general...

I think the issues we're with the wipes not with changing the end cap.

I'm waiting for the "why is my micro 30 loud AF on my 300blk" threads a year from now.

The more options the better.

It used to be "any suppressor part is a suppressor" as a result of the feds response to folks like Sylvia and Wayne Daniel, who spent a lifetime tiptoeing around the margins of ATF rules. Wipes were just the stupidest example of this lunacy.

I think Len Savage must be their adopted son, as he's certainly continued this tradition.

The Omega9k is 4.7” long and 134dB with 300BLK subs

The Micro30 is 5” or 6.5”; I bet it will be fine

I was referring to the short config. The 5" will be loud, even with subs. That 5" also has a mount.

I have an omega 9k and think it sucks for 300blk, but everyone is different.

Nope. Wipes are legal for mine. ATF ruled wipes were a no no for a few cans awhile back but not all cans. It's really convoluted and stupid... Buy THIS can and you can have parts, buy THIS can and you can't have anything extra, buy this ONE and wipes are fine, this ONE no wipes...

Can't speak to the wipes, as that's a truly ridiculous situation. (Doesn't stop people from making their own, though)

But in the case of the end caps, the companies that sell them do so because there's an alternate use available. It might not even be something released to the public, but it exists.

For example, I have a Silencerco Octane "brake" that is similar to the Griffin Rev Muzzle Brake. Takes an Octane mount on one end and Octane end cap on the other. So, my 9mm end cap that I bought for an Octane 45 isn't a silencer part...of has multiple uses.

They made 200 of them but never released them to the public. I happen to know who had them, and ended up with one. I believe JKupp did as well. Griffin sells theirs. SiCo also made some overpriced contraption that took Saker end caps, which is why you could buy those.

Not saying I agree with it all, but there is a method to some of the madness...even if the general public isn't always aware of it.

...but if you want one made, let me know. I know a guy.

The can looks cool. Just wish they posted actual db ratings.. even if it was from their own testings. Says an extra 2db reduction by using the 556 endcap.. awesome 2db off of what number?

Please don't take this personal anyone, but I feel like in the last year or so, people have been buying suppressors based off looks and configurations and not off db reduction. When was the last time you remember seeing a new suppressor offer some crazy db reduction vs something that was already on the market from just s few years ago.

I do get it, people like to buy new stuff like pistols with intergraded suppressors and that's pretty cool, but I feel like the 22/9/556/308 newer designs offer nothing over the slightly older (lets say) 2012-2015 designs. I would like to see something like a 10% increase in db reduction if I am going to spend the money.

It's just my opinion... I know it doesn't count. I know someone will be butt hurt and prove me wrong on a single example shortly. Don't mind me.. can't sleep so my mind is wondering.

Just wanted to add to this a little bit...not in a butt-hurt prove-you-wrong effort, but simply to relay some first hand experience.

I had the opportunity to take some of my F1 and F4 cans out to TX and shoot with both Capitol Armory and Silencer Shop. Also took them down to Rugged in SC. On two of those three occasions we had dB meters with us. I tested different lengths of cans with the same design, different spacing of baffles in the same size tubes, and different end caps on a single silencer.

And it was those hands-on experiences (which most will never have) that opened my eyes to features other than dB reduction. While I'll still look at what the manufacturer or 3rd party states as dB reduction, it has moved down the list a bit. Tone and backpressure play a much bigger part to me in how much I enjoy shooting a particular can. Features such as modularity (end caps/mounts/length) and easy of cleaning might be rated above dB reduction based on some applications.

I had an F1 can that metered about 10dB higher than we all guessed it was doing. The tone was much more pleasing than an F4 can of a similar size.

That being said, I haven't bought a new suppressor in several years. I don't own any that are modular in length. But if I was looking today, there are a lots of preferences to look at that I might rate above advertised dB reduction. If I get a chance to shoot it first, and it sounds good, I'm fine with that...regardless of what the meter said. Also to note, I always wear foam plugs at a minimum even when shooting suppressed, so whether a can is over or under 140dB by a couple doesn't really matter to me.
