I have asked my local optometrist several times for glasses suitable for pistol shooting. He's not a shooter, so he didn't get what I was asking for.
After a recent referral from a CFF member, I went to see Family Eye Care in Jamestown, NC. Dr. DeAllen gave me an eye exam, talked about my needs, and ordered lenses for my shooting glasses. A couple of weeks later, I went and picked them up. I can now see my front sight crisp and clear!
The left lens is just like my daily pair. But, the right lens is ground differently so that I can keep my chin down in a proper aggressive stance. The left lens still has "near at the bottom, far at the top" progression. The right lens is ground to give a constant focal distance whether looking through the top of the lens or the bottom.
So, when I'm shooting at various distances, my left eye can focus on the target, while my right eye can focus on the front sight. All without changing the tilt of my head.
If you have a similar problem, I recommend seeing Family Eye Care. You'll be glad you did!

I’m shocked so few NC optometrists are prepared to help shooters. Maybe they’re so full of work they don’t care about what seems to be a great opportunity to increase the patient base.

Glad you found someone who could help! I am on my second eye doctor office, still trying to find one that can help me with my astigmatism and shooting. The first one was supposed to be shooter friendly. I ended up with regular glasses (non-safety/non-shooting) and a months of failed contact lens solutions (6+). Very frustrating.
