What's it worth? Bought this on a whim and don't shoot it much. I would rate in conservatively at 92.3%. Shot, but not much. I have the original cardboard box as well as the "paper" it was wrapped in, and all paperwork. Does anyone see this being a "collectible" one day? Curious if I should sell to get something else, or sit on it to hand down to one of my kids one day.

Sounds nice, post some photos and you'll get better feedback on it.

    92.3%??
    Is this a typo?
Never heard grading going into 10ths
    Kind of funny

Pictures, slight wear on the top of the barrel. I wanted to be conservative and say 95%, but I know its better than 90%.

If you decide to sell it, I'd be interested.

There's a similar discussion ongoing at the S&W forum. The latest post is...

Yesterday I bought a 39-2 S/N A169xxx (date about 1971-72) new in the box with all tools and info for $425.00 out the door at a local dealer. Cleaned it up since it had the original lubrication and it is beautiful.

I have 2 of these. One my father bought new in the 70s with the box that is amazing. I bought another to carry and shoot since I can't bring myself to carry his.

The 2nd one I got I paid 350 for and it's a carry so I wasn't worried about looks. One that night has good potential on gunbroker or here I would say 450 to 500 if the box is nice too and original to the gun.

Sir, that's a solid 92.6%, if I've ever seen it. Don't sell yourself short.

I think that they are collectible now.

Meh... it's practically worthless... I'll take it off his hands so he won't be bothered with having to liquidate it...
