I just got the M&P9 (original version not 2.0) from Cabela's (online sale for $299.00).

They've always felt good in my hand but something always kept me from trying one. Seemed like people always complained about the trigger and I did feel a few that felt "gritty". I like the smoother grip texture compared to the 2.0

As luck would have it the one I picked up had no grit and a pretty clean break. Actually felt similar to my glocks, just a tad heavier at the break. Not as crisp as the Sig P320 or light as the VP9 or PPQ, but pretty good IMHO. I've had a few accidental double taps w the PPQ when "taking up the slack" so a couple of extra pounds is fine w me. Decent reset, not quite as distinct as the glock.

Got it out for few hundred rounds today and I was very impressed! Solid accuracy, groups not quite as tight as the VP9 or P320 but pretty easy to blow a 2"hole from7 yards. No malfunctions.

The thing that impressed me the most was the recoil impulse felt more straight back w minimal muzzle flip compared to all of my other full-size pistols!

It is nearly identical in size to the VP9 (my typical EDC) but has 17+1 vs 15+1.

I love trying out different pistols but I think this one has a permanent home. Anyone want to buy a P320 compact w 2 frames?

That's a great value. I think I paid $550 when I bought one a few years ago, and spent another $300 on it. I'd shoot that one just like it is. Great ergos.

Plus I got a great deal on a Chief Jason holster from some guy that it fits in perfectly!
Oh yea, forgot about that. lol

I have the M&P compact in .40. I'll agree with others that the M&P frame and set up was built to handle the 40. Shooting the 9mm Storm Lake conversion set up on my gun is really comfortable.

Is Apex still the go-to trigger for these guns? If so, do I go for the duty or comp kit? I picked one up, and its gritty as hell. I know it needs to be shot a bit, but I don't think its going to smooth it out that much.

Apex FSS with metal trigger

I have a nice pro series core 4.25 in the wanted section someone needs to own.

You did well. $300 and all the rebate goodies is just an amazing deal. I paid closer to $500 at the end of December and have been quite happy with the gun.

I know! The extra magazines and other rebate stuff will probably arrive in 2020 but I'm still pumped.

I got REALLY lucky on the trigger. It has no grit whatsoever in the takeup or during the break. Most of the other stock ones i've tried had some grit.

There must be a 0.99 cent trigger job for these like there is for the glocks right?

I got my first M&P a few months ago and I am starting to become an M&P fan. It's a 9L CORE Pro Series and has one of the best triggers out of the box I have ever felt on a striker fired gun. I have always like M&Ps, but in the past the triggers were awful and I refuse to buy a new gun and have to put a couple hundred bucks in it just to get a decedent trigger. Now, I'm looking to add a M&P9c 2.0, if S&W ever decides to come out with one.

You can pull them apart and polish all the contact areas just like a Glock. Mine (sample of one) was not nearly as rough as one G and about the same as the other G, so the difference made may not be very pronounced. There's also this http://www.burwellguns.com/misc/M&Ptriggerjob.pdf which is very easy to do and makes a big difference if you're adventurous.

Apex is still pretty much the source for drop-in M&P trigger pieces. Not being 9mm and no chance of me shooting production with it I put a FSS in mine, it's very nice.

Money rebates took about 2.5/3 months, through some kinda contract agency.

I've read that the "goodie" rebates are being handled directly by S&W and come more quickly.

I got my M&P 9mm about two years ago. Simply polished the internals and was pretty well satisfied. But, the over travel was a problem, so I just added some JB weld, after I measured, to the back of the trigger guard. All well and good. Did the same to my .45 shield though I did not have to do anything as to polishing. Good to go.

I have had my M&P 9 Pro (5") since they first came out (at $600, ouch). It took a while to warm up to, but it is my go to for competition in production now. The Apex plunger was the most worthwhile part of the upgrade kit (I did not change the trigger, to stay in production). The Pro sear is better than the Apex (it is supposedly S & W custom shop). After I polished and played with the original and Apex springs and parts and kept the best of each, it has a nice trigger. With 147 gr bullets over 3.6 gr of HP-38/WW-231 it is quite accurate and really soft shooting.

The more I shoot it, the more I like it.

Got mine in a straight up trade for an XD9sc.

Love love love this piece.

I attribute that to the beavertail. The version 1 M&P has that big 'ol tail hanging way out there. It works..just ask the 1911 guys. My full size 40 is the 'softest' shooting 40 I have.
They cut it back on the 2.0 models, and I think that may have been a mistake. I'll reserve complete judgement until I actually shoot one though.

@vp9c if you're around Raleigh area and want to feel the Apex stuff let me know, my full size has the full set, compact has DCAEK and RAM on it. Both of them are fantastic shooters.

The Apex FFS trigger is nice but be prepared to tinker with it. I'm still messing with mine getting light primer strikes. There some info out there about tuning the loop on the trigger bar to eliminate it. With that said it's hands down the best striker fired trigger I've ever felt with the apex fss and comp spring kit.

I traded a stock Gen 4 G17 for a 4.25" CORE with the Apex D/CAEK and RAM already installed. It even came with 8 mags with Vickers base plates and 2 holsters. He really wanted that "Block"!

I couldn't be happier! It just feels more comfy and natural for me. Not sure what the stock trigger was like, but I'm content with how it feels as it is.

The stock trigger is weird, because its not consistent from gun to gun. Ive had a few before the 2 I have now, and they were all stock triggers. One was gritty but lighter, some were smooth and crisp, but heavier. One was great out of the box, other than all of the take up. The Apex stuffs really make a difference. My 9c has the same setup your Core does and its a great shooter.

I'm a certified M&P armorer (well okay in the interest of full disclosure, there really isn't any "gunsmithing" involved with M&Ps you're just a parts swapping gun plumber) anyway, I don't really like the standard M&Ps, and would never buy one, but the 2.0 is another story. The 2,0 are the M&P done right. Excellent changes have been made and the 2.0 is an excellent pistol. I am really interested in the new 9mm 2.0 compact, it looks great!! Should I purchase a 2.0 compact, it'll have the ambi-safety.

I fiddled with a 2.0 and I really liked it, but not ready to buy another handgun now. Trigger felt better, a LOT better grip, and the safety felt good (not a huge safety guy, but it did feel nice).

Is it possible to buy just the palm swells of the 2.0?

It might be easier to find someone who would trade 2.0 for 1.0 inserts. I have been very surprised by the number of people who prefer the 1.0 but want the 2.0 inserts or, conversely, like the 2.0 but want 1.0 inserts.

Scored an M&P9C today and sold my sig P320!

A little smaller than the VP9SK but holds 12+1 vs 10+1.

I'm banking on an insert (x-grip?) that allows use of the new 15 rounder as well.

Curious what did you get for the sig if you dont mind sharing?

Awesome thanks for the info. Was that a seperate sale or trade in for the new gun?

Separate sale. Both off of armslist, not here.

Luckily I met both people at the same place within 10 minutes of each other!

Both good guys to deal with. Pointed them towards CFF.

I liked my M&P in 9mm so much, I got one in .40 and .45, all are police trades from Bud's with 3 magazines and case. Added a Hogue wraparound to them.
Got a new Shield in .45 with rebate from PSA. Nice textured grip.

You can get an X-grip mag adapter that goes on the full-size 17 round magazine and use it in the 9c. Just did that very thing yesterday. Man do I love the M&P 9c (the 3.5 inch barrel... not tried the 2.0).
