A local pawn shop has a S&W Mdl 33 and will take $400 (marked $499). I have only given it a quick look but the gun seems to be 90-95%. Should I jump on this or hold off? I am far from an expert on the older S&Ws and just saw this pistol this afternoon so any advice would be appreciated.

Does it have original grips, box, etc?

The Model 33 is mostly a collector piece, in my opinion. It is chambered in 38 S&W, not .38 Special. $400 is probably shooting a bit high for a gun that is 90-95% without all the other stuff. Cannot say for sure without photos and additional information. It has been built on both the I and J frames, I being the earliest production. $325-$350 out the door might be hard to pass up if closer to 95%

Are you looking for a Model 33?

If it has a model number I don't think it would be an I frame. Never mind, I am incorrect. Carry on.

No, I had 15 minutes at lunch so I ducked into a local pawnshop that I occasionally find some decent deals at. The pistol is clean but not collector material. They also have a very nice Ruger Mk1 priced right I might grab.
