Picked these up at Wal-Mart for $10. Decent light output and the motion activation seems to work well. 20 or 60 second on time or you can switch to remote control. Depending on how much light output you're looking for you may need more than one set for a safe larger than 20 cubes.

I heard that @BigWaylon knows something bout safe lights.

I'm not happy with my flimsy tape lights... I like 'em when they work, but I hate 'em when something snags 'em.

A retail kit for only $10? And Monster usually makes good stuff, albeit wayyy overpriced. I did the BigWaylon Amazon/eBay setup and am very happy with it. I tucked the LED strip in the recessed area around the door opening so it’s not visible and out of the way. My safe is very well lit!
This Monster kit would only make it about half way around the door opening of most safes but should still give some nice light.

I’ll be curious to see how long the batteries last. That motion sensor must be a lot better than the one I tried…as it burned through a decent sized battery pack in a week or so IIRC.

I just got it today but I'll check every couple days to see how long it last. If it's junk I only lost 10 bucks

Cool option that I never thought of.
I use a cheap light from HF, it was one that was on special for 99c, has a light switch, velcro on the back

Another thread.
