So I was signed up for the Sage Dynamics class and had to miss it in the mountains. Well I just transferred my tuition to one he's doing at Woodys in April. This one is a red dot focused defensive handgun. Which is actually better for me because one of my carry guns is a P320c with an RMR so I'm looking forward to it. Anyone else going? Also is there anywhere close to stay that you would recommend?

Holiday Inn Express Apex-Raleigh 1...919) 387-3636 https://goo.gl/maps/jKdsH5peKov

This is the best place and it’s just down the road from Woody’s. There’s many other options right around there too. Lots of places to eat also around the Holiday Inn.

Awesome looking forward to it. I’ll get a room soon there. Anyone up for a beer after class?

I’m signed up. April seems so far away. :(

Yeah I know. I registered in April of this year for his class in August but hurt my foot so I couldn’t go. Then registered for the one in tn for September but was deployed for Florence so missed it. April will make a year for me lol. I am looking forward to his class I really enjoy his videos and writings.

Yeah I thought is was pretty good when he cracked the lens and it still worked :)
It wasn't even on my radar until I saw that video last week.

In Apex there’s Salem Street Pub that has patty melts to die for. On that same Salem street there’s also a very good Mexican and few other restaurants.

If you're a wings & pub fan look up Apex Wings.
Do you have a class info link?
Woody's is 2 miles up the road from me.
Heres a link to his site. The RDS focused defensive handgun is his regular defensive handgun but for RDS equipped handguns and how they change some of the stuff you run into with an RDS. If you want to register for it the calendar on his sight has it and you just click on that link. https://www.sagedynamics.org/untitled-sitepage_23
Here is the info he sent me when I registered.

Zbizzle, Thank you! I'll see if I can get out of another commitment and hope to join y'all.

I'd love to, it'll have to be next time :(.
We did the math and $400 plus 1K rounds isn't in the budget right now. Grading and paving the driveway is taking priority at the moment.

Let me know where & when you'll be out grabbing a bite, I'll try to meet up.

Hope y’all brought rain gear. :) One thing is for sure, we’ll be able to test the theory whether red dots on pistols in the rain work. :D

So we finished the class today. Here is my thoughts on it.

1.) Aaron is a very knowledgeable person on more than just firearms.
2.) This class wasn't for people who aren't already decent handgun shooters. It was focused on using the red dot and how you need to change your style to shoot it well.
3.) If you have a RDS on a handgun this class is a must!!!
4.) Accuracy is king in this class

So the first day started off with some simple drills and Aaron went over the things that we needed to change to run the RDS well. The weather rained off and on all day but never terrible. We shot about 350-400 rounds doing the various drills. The first day was focused a lot on cadence and making sure the dot was in the window on the draw, this was to make sure everyone had the dot on presentation and could keep the dot in the window during recoil and learn how to read the dot and adjust your point of aim accordingly. I struggled a bit at first with keeping the dot in the window during recoil. Aaron had some tips to help with this and after a short amount of instruction and practice I was keeping the dot in the window 99% of the time and it dramatically improved my hit %.

The second day was focused on shooting on the move, gun malfunction clearance, dot malfunction. His double feed clearance drill is great and is done different than any I've seen before. The dot malfunction drills were great. I actually shot better when the objective side of the lens was covered with painters tape. I never thought my left eye was taking in that much information. The drill shooting with the emitter side of the lens was interesting and I struggled with the elevation on it. It was hard for me to know my muzzle was up more than I thought. Aaron told us a simple way to help with this was to take a paint pen and make a mark on the top of the hood of the RMR and this lets you know if you have any unwanted elevation in the gun.

The final drill was the course qualification test. 50 rounds shot and point blank all the way out to about 30 yds. There are varying strings of fire and instructions for it. There is a minimum hit percentage to pass the class and then a % to get your red patch.

Overall I really enjoyed the the class and the instruction. Everything in the class was backed up with information that made sense and when used it worked. I would highly recommend taking this class if you have a RDS and I will definitely be taking more from Sage in the future. PS shooting Aarons full auto Agency Glock 17 was a blast!
