Sale: instant read thermometers

Thermopops are great and at $20 are better than anything else at that price but the Thermapen-Mk4 is the bomb. If you get on their email list they often discount them to $79 or even lower for blemish models. I love mine it is worth every penny for me.
 
Perfect timing! My thermapen died recently, thought it was the batteries but nope, does not work anymore. Got a good 10 years out of it if I remember correctly. Hopefully the pop lasts a long time too.

Just watched the mk4 video. Wow have they made improvements from the old one I had. I will order one as soon as I see it on sale.
 
I got a Javelin Pro Duo for Christmas and so far it has been fine. Although I am not a thermometer expert by any means. What makes the Thermopen so good?

It is accurate IIRC within .7 of a degree. It is fast it gives an accurate readout in less 2 seconds. Every test I have ever read from America's Test Kitchen to Serious Eats ranks it #1 for speed and accuracy. I really like the speed when you have multiple things to temp. Great on the grill or in the oven.

It has a sleep mode and is motion activated. The read out will orient itself as you turn it. They also have great customer service. I had one of their The Javelin Pro Duo is supposed to be solid.
