Savage 12 LRP

Been wondering how those shoot. Keep us updated. She looks good.

Sweet! Let us know how it shoots.
Shoots good even though Saturday it's first time out I wasn't able to stretch it out far because friends pasture was grown up lol but I can tell you it performed well and that heavy barrel really disperses heat very well

The Savage 12LRP is the best bang for the buck ($900) in the Savage line of rifles. I've directed several people to this model and all have been extremely happy with their purchase! Get yourself a few 10 round mags from Dark Eagle Customs and you are set.

It's not very well known, but you can call the Savage custom shop and get these optioned out with stuff not on the list for a few bucks more. They're great rifles and shoot better than most people can hold.

Rookie question. What makes the Model 12 superior to the Model 10, specifically the FCP-SR? Seems to be a significant price jump so I'm sure there are some differences. Just not sure what they are.

It's not the "12" designation so much as the LRP model of the 12. The LRP has an HS Precision fully bedded stock (you'd pay $400+ for that), lighter target trigger, and a reinforced action compared to say the FCP

Thanks. I knew there was a reason my rookie brain wasn't picking up.

So, the 12 LRP is worth the additional $450+/?

Considering a stock would cost you $300-400 and you'd spend $100 on a trigger pretty easily, I think so. I've got a number of Savage "builds" that I easily have more tied up in than my off the shelf LRP that shoots every bit as well. You likely couldn't build the equivalent for the same price, especially with the deals I've seen at GrabAGun, etc.

Thanks for your help. Will likely give it a go. Looking to try something other than pistol and AR's for a little while.
