Hi all, quick question here. I bought a Vector pistol and added a hera arms side folding unit to it as well as a SBA3 brace to go with it.. Now I just read about the Length of Pull having to be no more than 13.5" but with the side folding adapter my vector is at 15.5" with the brace extended..

If I dont extend the brace it sits just under 13.5" so either I remove the folding adapter or get a non collapsible brace.. Since I already bought the brace I dont want to get another one.

My question is, what if I was to glue the brace to the buffer tube or cut the buffer tube down so it cant extend anymore? Would that be legal?

The other braces that are non collapsible are just too bulky for the vector.

never heard of a length of pull restriction on a pistol brace. Can you send me the link to that requirement?

So I was just on the phone with SB Tatical the makers of the brace and he confirmed that it sometimes comes down to interpretations but says that the ATF does states it cant be more than 13.5" from trigger to the extended end of the brace.

He did say I can cut down the buffer tube or glue it where I can no longer extend and I'll be fine since it doesn't modify the brace from it's intended purposes.

Here's another article

the ATF had communicated that fact to various manufacturers in private opinion letters concerning their specific products over the years (and some of those companies have chosen to make those letters public), but nothing has ever been communicated to the general gun-buying public by the agency.

As a result, the defense argued that Wright had no reasonable way of knowing about the 13.5-inch length of pull limit. There’s a Supreme Court precedent in Staples v. United States that found a gun owner has to know that his firearm has characteristics that bring it under NFA regulation to be guilty of a crime."

OK so a super secret squirrel unpublished regulation created by an anticonstitutional agency grasping at nearly 100 year old laws sues someone and gets it's butt handed to it by a jury in less than 1 hour?

Won't modify my behavior in the least. Free men and all that stuff.

FWIW the SCOTUS is about to take up an NFA case on suppressors. I hope they rule the entire NFA is in violation of the 2A. Not likely, but possible.

That, plus the entire tractor trailer loads of background forms that is in store in West Virginia since they don't have storage for their end-run around the 2A since 1994.....and the entire thing is a farce.

Moral of this story is don't throw cellphones at your wife.

I read up on the ruling yesterday but didn’t think about the other platforms that a brace could possibly be adapted to. I guess a LOP limit makes sense in that the design of a brace is to attach to one’s forearm.

This also helps explainswhy my friend’s SBA3 and my SBPDW are the same exact length.

If i slide the SOB brace back on the pistol tube i can make the LOP 20 inches. Should i worry if this is how it fits well on my monkey length arms? BATFEces can kma. The product is legal, has been ruled on by them several times.
Quit making arbitrary end runs around the RKBA and go back to doing what you do best: being the USPS of firearms.
