I bought a PPS-43c in 7.62x25 Tokarev years ago. I did SBR it and have my tax stamp. I also have one in 9mm SBR'd with the stamp. My question is, can I change out the barrel to a 9mm?

If it is a permanent change you must notify the ATF of the format change.

Define permanent. AFAIK, I just press out the trunion pin holding in the barrel, change to new (and MUCH cheaper to shoot) 9mm barrel and press in the trunion pin. All reversible in a matter of minutes. Would the caliber on the rifle not matching the actual new caliber be an issue???

There’s not much that’s really permanent. There’s not a single regulation that says you have to be able to return it to the specs on the form, which is why the old FAQ (on the ATF’s site) used the word recommend instead of require when talking about making permanent changes.

I’m not familiar with the platform in question. Would the new barrel be engraved with the caliber like on the AR platform? If so, that satisfies the marking requirements.
