Getting to be a lot of activity in the area here lately. Just had 6 fire units headed towards Clemmons and would like to know WTF was happening.

I used to mess with them but since local agencies have 800 digital trunks I don't know where to start. Would rather have a hand held.

If all you want to listen to is the dispatch channel for Forsyth and surrounding counties get a cheap one and put the vhf frequencies in it. If you want to listen to the trucked combat channels it’s going to get a bit more expensive. They make scanners for that but you’d need to know how to program it or someone who could do that.

Check out something like the Scanner Radio Pro app for your phone.

Have access to alot of the feeds in the area as well as across the country.

Alot cheaper than investing in a scanner.

Also check Twitter...alot of 911 centers pushing their dispatch details to a Twitter feed.

Thats the list you can pull off the scanner radio pro app

Don't spend too much on a digital scanner if you want to listen to law enforcement. Many police departments are now encrypting their communication on P25 digital. You can listen to fire and ems but if it encrypted, no scanner will decode that audio.
