Got an email from my ISP talking about copyright infringement and got to thinking I should look into this.

    Found this https://protonvpn.com/download/

Is there more to know? Anyone have any experience with a service they recommend?

I don't have any experience with the personal vpn's but just be aware that your speeds will definitely take a hit.

Just signed up for the free service from the link above. Download speed went from 375Mbs to 75Mbs. Still not too bad and if used judiciously, this could work out. Wouldn't mind paying for a service that maintained higher speeds, but don't know enough, yet, to start paying for anything. Thanks.

Like most things keep in mind 'free' isn't free; they are selling your data.

The historical worst example of this is 'Hola' - if you want to read up. It and a few of the other bad ones are actually available as Chrome browser plug-ins.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hola_(VPN) - criticisms

If your only concern is spoofing your IP they will work just fine; not exactly safe but fine.

They will slow your speeds. A lot of people think they are only good to hide you from your isp when downloading. They are also great if you use public WiFi spots to help prevent your info from being stolen. For use on vacation, etc. Also, never download content. Always stream. Nordvpn and ipvanish are usually at the top of most list. Ipvanish for 2 years. No problem. It is based in the US while Nordvpn is based in Panama. Someone a lot more knowledgeable than I will hopefully reply.

It's a good investment to buy a decent one. I haven't researched them in awhile so I don't know what's the best anymore. Read / watch reviews like you would for any other product and pick the one that suits you best.

Find a VPN service that doesn’t keep logs. That is a major point, why have a VPN if they still keep a log of your activity?

A good VPN is one you pay for. NordVPN is the one I use on my mobile devices and home computers.

They have a really good deal if you buy a 2 year. It covers 6 devices be a computer, tablet, phone or server.

Not sure but get on a computer and dig around in their site. they have a 2 year plan somewhere for 75$

If you hang out on their website for a few mintues you'll get an offer for 3 years for 99

We have our secure VPN to remote into our system at work, I use it when we are on trips.
