If planning to have two rifles that are very similar in set up but different calibers, would it be wise to use the same brand, etc. scope for both? I have a Busnell 1x4 and a Leupold 1x4. I like them both, but I like the Leupold more and thought it would be best, or at least a good idea, to get another for the other rifle.

Both set ups would suppressed SBRs for short range deer/hog hunting.

Another option.

Invest in a good quick detach mount and swap back and forth. Just note what the zero is on each rifle and that you put it back in the same slot each time.

What would you consider "good?"

Not a bad idea.

both rifles are for deer/hog hunting? Why two rifles with the same scope used for the same thing? Why not scope one for hunting and acog one for oh i dont know a Canadian invasion.

You, sir, have stumped me. I can't answer the why without simply saying "because."

Maybe I should sell one.

That's never the answer. Lol. Just wanted to point out that you'll have matching rifles. Intended for the same use.

Easy fix. Different upper in a different caliber like 300blk

All your mags will still work too ;)

One is 300blk and the other is 7.62. So, different mags.

Specifics? What rifles, calibers and uses? Not enough information to help you. Versatility is nice though.

Both ARs. Both SBRs. One is a 10.5" 300blk and the other is a 7" 7.62. I'll swap my SpecWar suppressor from one to the other, but figured I would scope them the same.

Two Leupolds that give you the same reticle and adjustments would make some sense. Although you may want to have more magnification on the 7.62 since it will reachnout a bit more. But 1-4 isn't a bad option.

I'm assuming you're referencing 7.62x39 and not x51, correct? If so, they have very similar supersonic ballistics so I would go with one scope to rule them all (or both in this case). I would bet the zeroes would almost be identical and holdover about the same to 200y or so.

As for mounts, BOG listed 2 of the better ones on the market. I have both an ADM and a Spuhr, and for the value, I don't know that I would buy a Spuhr again. It's fantastic mount and I like the level built in, but it's not X2-and-then-some better than an ADM for your purpose.

Larue Tactical makes what I consider to be the BEST quick detach mount on the market. Will hold zero every time you take it on and off. Also not cheap. Best customer service around too.

This is what I do - buy one really nice scope mount combo and swap around...

"More magnification on the 7.62 since it will reachnout a bit more"

Nope. 4x is plenty on that cartridge, a gracious plenty. Unless he is talking about 7.62x51.

I have done that quite a bit with my Mk 6 swapping from my DPMS308 and my Anschutz. It is fairly easy but does become tedious if you are up against a timeline.
I always double check my settings and they are always spot on....And still I check. This may be the wellspring of the tedium.

SWFA SSALT mount is not bad, it does repeat with a good torque wrench and it comes with 1" inserts.

Unless the Bushnell is a terrible scope, use it. It should not be difficult to swap from one scope to another. I like having one scope on each rifle all sighted in and ready to go.

edit: I shoot Leupold, Zeiss, Nikon, and Weaver and have never had a problem going from one to the other.
