I remember this was discussed previously but, I’m not sure there was a resolution. What is the current minimum number of characters that can be accepted for a search? Often, I find myself trying to search for a simple model number (i.e., CS9) and getting nothing when I know this has appeared in threads.

Is it possible to reduce the minimum to two?

I have found this to be largely true on any of the Xenforo based forums I inhabit. I don’t know if it can altered or not. Even when utilizing more detailed search criteria the results are usually lame. Somebody can probably remind us how to use Google and search within the CFF forum more effectively using Google's nosey search engine.

Pretty sure it’s minimum of four...but maybe you can use CS9* or *CS9 to get to four. * = wildcard

The other option mentioned above it to use google. Search for CS9 site:carolinafirearmsforum.com

That’s about the only way I can successfully search ARF.

...also, make sure you’re not in a subforum and have the box checked to only search that section.

CS40 or CS45 is what you need to search for @Jeppo ...lol. Go big, or go home... And no, you can't have my CS40!

I don’t know the actual Xenforo answer..but I’ll chime in anyway.

asking a TEXT BASED database to search for strings of only a few characters is horribly inefficient, prone to garbage results and just generally a bad idea.

I gave the two solutions (for using the current system) upstream. :p

But you haven’t yet provided a solution for my laziness. :D
Too lazy to type a single * ?

Yeah, I can’t help with that. :D
