I'm sure this has been talked about but I'm just too lazy to search.

I'm not exactly expecting trouble from one person but I'd like to get a recording if it comes. I need to look into a camera that I can soffit mount. It can be wireless or wired (I can wire).
  • Resolution for 50ft-100ft, down to a face or license plate
  • Outdoor
  • Day/Night
  • Tracking (auto pan/tilt)
  • Cost is an issue (this IS CFF)
  • Good movement capturing
  • Not interested in multi cameras
  • Connects to laptop
What's out there? I'll also be searching for products that might fit.

Ive got a paid version of blue iris and several cameras. Would be happy to show you the ropes. Even it's its remote via a screen share via teamviewer. I'm close to adding 2 more cameras. I even have a pc I'll trade you to use as the dvr, access the feed and recorded footage via url from any pc in the house or remotely.

Check out Nelly's security. They are great folks and will go out of their way to help you get up and running if you purchase equipment from them.

Its been a while since I have looked at PTZ cameras, good quality is expensive. A camera that ticks all your marks will not be cheap. Most PTZ cameras that would ( IMO ) meet your requirements will be $800+. Check out their site, they have videos and show what each camera is capable of. Disclaimer : I have no ties to Nellys other than purchasing a NVR from them years ago, good folks to work with.

What PC do you have that you would consider trading? I need to move over to blueiris and get away from my NVR. That's one project on my list over the next couple weeks. I currently have 5 POE IP cameras up with one of those not working. Looks it got hit with a surge of something. Have 2 or 3 Dahua turrents to put up.

I can't believe that whatever scorched the plug didn't also blow the poe switch or inserter.

The pc I offered for trade was just for his one camera, which would be fine, but wouldn't do 5+ cameras. But to answer your question it's one of these:

I still have two left. but would need to look and see exactly what they are, it's been a while.

Thanks for the offer(s). Still gathering info but getting close. I have a nice laptop that's sitting on a bookshelf waiting.

Yeah, I really haven't investigated much. I had hoped just swapping the camera out would fix it but it doesn't look like that worked. Could be a bad ethernet port on my NVR. I have an old optiplex 9010 at home I was going to use for this. Might go ahead and try getting things setup this week.
