I just registered for the September RnG.

    https://thegunrun.us/collections/tickets

    Who else plans on going?

My goal is sub 1 hour finish time, so a slow pace for sure, but just getting out and doing it will be a win for me.

No matter how slow you are, you're still lapping everyone sitting on the couch.....

Finishing under an hour is a great goal to have, keep in mind the time it takes to get your stage brief and shoot each stage is included in your overall run time. 14 people out of 58 finished in under an hour at the last event.

@Eeben ....I'm trying to decide which rifle to carry. What's the max distance anticipated for rifle shots?

Does anyone know what the total distance you cover is?

I would love to try this prior to surgery but with the chemo not sure my endurance is up to it.

Right now it's 200yds. Last race I think max was about 180yds. It sort of depends on how the vegetation turns out in about a month, but I'm looking at trying to get a slightly longer shot in but it's difficult with how the course needs to go. What are you thinking about bringing?

Either a 10.3" suppressed SBR or the 18" heavy 3-Gun rifle. Sounds like the SBR will be just fine!

I ran the 3 Gun rifle at the Carolina Run-n-Gun in Clinton, SC last summer and did OK with the weight. It's the length that really got me during the Run/Walk/Waddle portion.

Everyone "runs" their own race. In the 90* heat and 100% humidity last year I walked at least 1/2 the course.

    The stage brief is timed?

The one a couple months ago was 3.7 miles. Also had one small stretch where you carried a 65lb sand bag. Everyone goes at their own pace. Some guys were running the entire distance and some walking everything.

Thank you for the info. Carrying anything heavy would be tough for me currently. I have a hernia from my last surgery and we can't do anything about that until after the next surgery and follow up chemo.

That keeps a competitor from buying time huffing and puffing trying to recover 'off the clock'. The stage brief is likely a scripted thing so the time variance would be negligible.

The stage briefs are simple and short, if we stopped and started your time at each stage it would dramatically increase the amount of math to do when it comes to scoring. Tim, your SBR will do just fine. Had a guy do the course with a Keltec SUB2000 and he did ok.

Hope you all are still training in the heat. I doubt it will cool off much over the next few weeks. Current round count is 36 rifle and 35 pistol but expect that to change slightly. Inspecting the course today, a lot of vegetation has grown up and some of the stages will need to be adjusted.

I'm out guys. Wrecked my knee, MCL sprain, at a 3-gun last weekend and it just isn't getting better. Doc says to stay off it for a couple weeks.

Sorry to lose you Tim, one of the hardest things to do is take the time off needed to fully heal. There will be more next year to attend!

I'll do two in NC most definitely but I'm not sure it can support more than that. Probably try and do some in Virginia.
