i know UPS stores will not ship ammo. it seems a lot more difficult as an individual to ship today compared to past?

Are there businesses out there that have the contracts with UPS that will ship ammo for a fee? do local gun shops provide this service?

In the past I've just put it in a plain box and mailed it. Don't ask, don't tell style.

UPS ships ammo for companies all the time. Does it not just have to be properly marked ORM-D?

Don’t need the ORM-D. It changed (maybe 1/1/21?) to just the black diamond.

I’ve shipped ammo a couple times in the last year. Supposed to take it to the UPS center, which is ~20 minutes or so from my house (or have it picked up).

I’ve printed a label a home, drawn the diamond on a box with a Sharpie, and dropped it off at the UPS Store…which is only ~2 minutes away. So, it’s not illegal to ship via UPS, it’s just that the UPS Store isn’t supposed to do it. I figured if I marked it correctly, and they accepted it, I was ok to send it that way. 😎

Doesn’t look like a big deal.

not sure what this means?-

"Shipments of ammunition with other UPS services must be prepared as a fully regulated hazardous material and are available only on a contractual basis."?

Other than normal truck shipping.

If you wanna ship it some way other than UPS Ground, you’re gonna have to jump through some hoops.

yes i know UPS Ground is only game it seems. Looks like the UPS Center is the place to go if you want to ship legally.

The UPS storefronts won't ship ammo but the owned- by - UPS hubs will. Each shipping box cannot weigh more than 66 lbs as I recall and be properly labeled.

thanks. i have a personal account where i can get quote, purchase, and print label. So all I need to do is put on hazard label and just drop off at UPS hub?

This one. I’ve printed it and taped it on. But the last several times I just drew it on. Some of the commercial ammo I’ve received has it printed right on the outer box, so it’s the same black & cardboard (instead of black & white) I get when I draw it.
