Shockwave illegal in NC ?

I have less than zero interest in these but saw a lot of them at the show in Charlotte today. I know the AG's office was going to issue an opinion on their legality in NC but haven't seen it yet. Just curious if they have and whether the vendors at the show knew or not.

"If you want one, buy one. If they rule against them, I do not see them going house to house to confiscate them. Most likely they would be grandfathered". (This was the advice I received from an ATF agent that was at my home for FFL stuff). He said he thought they actually might rule favorably on them. I know, I know, if you talk to 10 different agents, you get 10 different responses. I do think he is right though.

Some dude tried to sell me and @Slappy McTrigger one of these when we rolled up to PDHSC the other day.

Said it was new for $300.00.

Was just reading about these on the john this morning in Shooting Illustrated. Given how unwieldy it looks, and how much recoil it would have, I don't want one, and probably wouldn't shoot one if it was given to me, but I think that it should be legal to own by anyone who does have the desire to break their wrists.

Wish they would make it in 20 ga. Course I could reload some reduced recoil loads using .311 or .375 RBs that I have for my Cap and Ball revolvers. Just shot some 1 oz loads using the above RBs out of my 870 yesterday. (9 or 10 .311 RB or 6 ea .375 RB) 0000 is .38, 000 is .36, 00 buck is .33, 0 buck is .32, 1 buck is .30)

I didn't want one before but now I want 10...

You sound like my wife.

Not long after the Sandyhook debacle, when everybody went crazy whike the feds were looking to leverage more gun restrictions into law, my wife, who could have cared less about an AR-15 before, said: "I want an assault rifle!"

I gave her the stare for a few seconds and said "You just COULDN'T have said that BEFORE every AR-15 on the planet jumped to $2,000 and more, could you?"

When did you give her the "AR doesn't stand for Assault Rifle" speech? :D

Buy the little wedge adaptor that allows it to run Aguila MiniShell #4 buck (7 pellets) and double the rounds in the mags. For HD distances 7 pellets of #4 buck per pull would ruin all but the worst Methican American intruder's day.

They were all over the GSO show today at $350. Same price on the Remington equivalent.

I just won one. Yeah! They called and told me I won a Mossberg 590. I was major excited about that. Then when I got there I found out it was a 590 Shockwave. I tried (not too hard) to trade it on the spot. They weren't feelin it. The upside is that it only cost me $20 in raffle tickets to a good cause, the guns were donated. I was talking to Mrs. about selling it and she encouraged me to keep it since in the end it cost less than the ammo I typically go through in an afternoon. I have to admit, a little bit of me thinks it's bad ass! I would never have gone out and bought one though.

Now I have to find a range that will let me shoot it. Any suggestions for the Charlotte area?

Keep it. Shoot the crap out of it. You can always trade it later.
Ranges? Try Pappy's down in Edgemoor. :D

While ya'll were talkin' and BS'ing I bought the Rem Tac 14. Love the Mlock forearm to mount my light on and I swapped the barrel to a cut down vent rib type. I also added a forearm strap and a Wilson +1 ext and a swivel stud in the grip. planning for a laser when I can decide which one I want.

I've had it to the club and shot a couple of skeet targets and for a cyl bore it's tight!! Every body wanted to shoot it and it got 3 boxes put through it pretty quick. Recoil (w/2.75 shells) wasn't bad at all.
