I was going to take my 6.5GR out tomorrow to group some handloads at 100 yards, but seeing 5-18mph wind gusts on the weather. Are those high enough to really mess with the 6.5 at 100 yards? Don't wanna get out there and waste my reloads and time with bad groups due to wind.

The wind just blew off one of my shutters. It is blasting outside my place in big gusts.

It probably won't be steady tomorrow. Maybe you can get your shots in in between wind gusts?

Last time we had a windstorm like this my wife's chihuahua went outside to pee, got blown off the steps into a plastic flower pot... and the flower pot blew 20 yards down the fence.

Dog gets out and runs like hell back to the porch! One of the funniest things I ever saw.

It's blowing so hard here that cases of ammo are getting blown off the shelves!

Just a rough figure, but a 10mph wind (full value) will push a 123gr (2550fps) load about 1" @ 100yds. JBM calc will give you more accurate figures once you input your load and bullet data

Hello fellow Davidstonian... do you shoot distance anywhere near here?

I'm a member down at Charlotte Rifle & Pistol where we have a 300 yard rifle range. There are no public ranges near the area that I know of that go beyond that.

I do drive to Camp Butner NGTC or Ft. Gordon for NRA/CMP highpower rifle matches as those ranges go to 600+ yards.

Since no one will answer your question.

No the wind speed at 0-100yds will not affect the group size.

If you shoot in a constant wind speed you might see a point of impact shift of .75 moa at worst.

If you have vererable winds, shoot in wind, or not .Do not do both.
