fired one round, now it’s out of battery with a live round stuck in chamber & slide won’t move.:(

Can’t imagine S&W would want to receive into their care a pistol in this state & FedEx etc would have my hide if I tried mailing it.

I will try to take it to S&W dealer tomorrow, but that still irks me. :( I bought this pistol for my girlfriend’s CCW piece & this far reliability is not impressive.

I have the 1.0 & it’s lovely, but this was the compact model 2.0 with better grip.

Can’t you pop the back cap and slide out the firing pin. Now no risk. Then you should be able to mount the frame in a vise and tap the slide to the rear.

I’m going to be honest & state I have no clue what you said. I will take it by Proshots tomorrow & let them work their magic.

As for my brand of ammunition, it was a group buy on something brass cased, I forget what brand.

I had that happen with an M&P 1.0. As @Amp Mangum said, sounds like an ammo problem. It was in my case.

Sounds like either in improperly sized round or (extremely unlikely) an out of spec chamber.
Once you get it fixed take the barrel out of the gun and drop the rounds directly into the barrel. They should fully seat and fall out with no resistance. If you have to force them in or pry them out, you’ll run into this problem and since it’s a new gun it could be a out of spec chamber but 99/100 times it’ll be bad ammo. Usually reloads or “remanufactured”.

If you put the muzzle end of the slide (edge of the slide but not the barrel) on the edge of a table and smack the grip you can usually get the cartridge out, but if you’re not comfortable don’t attempt it.

Sounds like the gov is finally coming after you

lol
Im sure SW will take care of it for you
Make a million of something and youre bound to get some lemons

I'm not responsible for any bullet you send downrange with this method. The other method I've seen is to use the front part of the rear slide on a sharp 90 degree table edge, if you can't grip the slide tight enough.

HIT IT WITH A HAMMER!!!!.

Member here bought a bunch of .223 ammo from a guy at a flea market or something a couple years ago. Went to shoot it and they were getting stuck in the chamber. I broke his charging handle tapping on it with a rubber hammer(I replaced it for him) getting that round to slide out.

They were all reloads and hadn’t been sized properly. He learned the joys of pulling bullets and sizing cases after that

I’ve kicked many a charging handle with my boots when I was a crayon eater. I tried that at a match a few months ago and it didn’t work so well with tennis shoes . I ended up using the magazine as a hammer to bust it loose.

Ryan at Apex Defense Group was able to fix it, he had some tools I didn’t & he kept the round.

Said something about the crimping, the brass had gotten stuck but the powder had partially leaked out as the bullet stuck in the barrel.

Apparently my pistol has tight tolerances & he suggests shooting some other Winchester stuff for a bit before this other stuff.

That ammo is highly suspect. Can you do a plunk test with it on the M&P and with some other guns? Measure the OAL for us? Maybe post a pic or two? If it’s sticking in the lands like that it’s probably not safe to use it, but I don’t know enough to say that for sure.

What is a plunk test?

When you drop a round in the barrel outside of the gun.

You plunk it in to check the fit of the chamber.

I do it with all my reloads but I use a gauge not the actual barrel.

There are a lot more detailed videos available, but this one at least demonstrates it and has some “bad” plunks with explanation.

I wouldn't say no risk.
Had one idiot almost dome himself clearing a malfunction because the primer was unseated.
Fired out of battery because the bolt mashed the unseated primer and fired out of battery inches from his blunt skull.
This uncommon malfunction can be detonated by the slide, bolt, etc.
Removing the firing pin/striker will not stop that.

Since this was brought back from the dead I’ll share what I learned about M&P 2.0 chambers in my 9mm.

Reloads #1 w RMR 147gr FMJ
Wilson case gauge: Pass
1.0 barrel: Pass
EGW case gauge: Fail
2.0 barrel: Fail

Reloads #2 w American Reloading 147gr FMJFN
Wilson case gauge: Pass
1.0 barrel: Pass
EGW case gauge: Pass
2.0 barrel: Pass

Yes, 2.0’s have tighter chambers.

Same ammo in both cases

Good to know. I had a case head separation with a 1.0 in the middle of a match. I thought we’d never get that brass case out of there.

Remember when I showed you about firing and holding the slide with your thumb? This with a rubber mallet.
