Should I buy a CZ Clone (TriStar) or a CZ?

I'm straight, but it wouldn't be my first gay pride parade. The way I see it, a man/woman ought to be able to do whatever they want as long as they are not interfering with me.
Do they make Coasties wear their blues at those parades?

They make the Navy wear their whites....

Smiley face was meant to indicate a totally non-serious post. Relax and buy what ever grips you want. You are the one shooting it. Our opinions don't matter. Much. Unless it is about barbecue and nanner pudding . Then it's deadly serious.

Sorry friend. I knew you were kidding. I didn't mean anything bad. I appreciated your comment. It was funny. I wasn't trying to push back and say anything different. We are all good people! I appreciate you.

Hi friends! I own a small collection of guns (rifles, shotguns, semi-auto handguns and revolvers), and I am really into collecting semi auto pistols lately. I have a few striker fired, but my FAVORITE pistols are the DA/SA ones. I own and shoot HKs, Berettas, Glocks, 1911s, Springfields, Rugers, etc.

I do not own any CZs but I see so much good stuff about them online that I feel like I need to buy one... Then I learned about Tristar CZ clones. According to the reviews I have read and watched online, they are identical (but with not so great triggers). I have also seen that all of the upgrade parts at Cajun Gun Works drop right into the TriStar guns just like the CZs.

So, should I spend $600 on a CZ75 or $350 on a Tristar T-120? If they are basically identical then why should I pay so much more for a CZ?

Also, if anyone wants to sell one of their extra CZs or Tristars please let me know via PM. I'd rather buy from you than give my money to a store like Academy Outdoors.

I went to Academy in Apex today to hold a TriStar. They sell them, but they don't keep them in stock. You have to order online and then wait for it to come in and pick it up. So, I wasn't even able to touch one yet...

Tell me what you think about CZs/Tristars, please.
While all knowledge does NOT flow from this fountain, I have lived all my life trying to purchase whatever the "yardstick" is for the product I wanted. I am recently a CZ convert. Beside the personal feeling of pride, wouldn't you just feel better having the real thing? One of my dear ole dead friends told me 40+ years ago to always get the very best I could afford. I have tried to use his idea to include everything from fountain pens to cars to guns to socks. You won't be sorry.

I agree with you! I bought the CZ97 instead of the clone.

WTH is wrong with people? They have nothing better to do than write silly responses for why one thing is better than another?

I just realized that's exactly what this thread is about: CZ versus Clone.... and now Blue versus green...

What am we doing with our lives?
Just wait till we start with .45 vs 9mm....I mean, you DID buy a 97 :D

Speaking of comparing things... Why do the Carolinas have so many firearm forum sites? Do we really need CFF, CSC, and the others? They are all nearly identical. I think most of us use the same username on multiple sites. Why can't we all just have ONE site so i don't have to receive alert emails from all of them?

I thought this was the only one?

We do only have one firearm site. The others were taken over by shadowy corporate entities bent on mining our data to eventually destroy our RTBA.

Im with ya on that...you should check out ncengravers on youtube. Im currently ratholing money back to try and get him to do a project.
Just watched two of the videos... That laser engraver is amazing...

Agreed. All that work and still the stock grips?
Almost metioned the grips, ivory, or a good burl would do well there.
I didnt even notice the grips at first lol. But, I'm with ya...a good ivory, or maybe even a Mother of Pearl, would do that thing justice

Ditch the gold accents and that's a fine looking piece.
I think I could deal with what little gold is on the scrollwork along with the trigger, mag release, and grip screws if it wasnt for the safety and slide release. Those two just put it over the top for me. If they matched the gun, I think it would look much better.

I was not surprised about the stock grips... I was REALLY surprised that they made the old Philips Head screws gold. That's ugly. Philips screw heads just look out of date to me. Those screws should be in a deck, not a handgun.

And I am not partial to the gold accents either...

Well, I did it... I bought the Zombie Green/Black Grips. I'll post a pic in a few days when they arrive and I get them put on. Thanks to everyone who gave input!

I guess I need to buy another CZ and put the Blue/Black grips on it. Then I'll have both...

Maybe I can just get a Shadow 2 that already has the blue grips...

Got to the range today with my newest addition, SP01. Took a few mags to settle down but I'm happy with the results.

First mag. 10rds at 7yds. Not bad.
20180602_102925.jpg
Second 10rds. Better group but why am I suddenly shooting left?20180602_102931.jpg Third 10rd group. Opened up some and still left.

Fourth group. 10rds/7yds. Two fliers and one big ragged hole. I'm done. Pack it up. Take it to the house because it's only gonna go downhill from here. All in all a good range day. Got to work with another new gun, PPQ, that I purchased from another forum member recently and finally got my P80 "Glock" build running right with a lighter recoil spring. @Alabamacoastie have got yours out to the range yet?

Looks about like how I shoot, too lol. Need about three-four mags to get a feel for any new girl.
The PPQ is another fine shooter...at least I think so. Mrs D edc's a PPQ

Shot my CZ75 for the first time today. Low and left. Raised the aim, low again. Both friends shot it perfect. Gotta work on my grip and trigger pull. The sights need a more visible dot, that is for sure. Felt very solid and muzzzle rise was limited. Really like the single action trigger.

My shooting partner bought a CZ455 off this site today and it was very nice. He joined the CZ club.

Yep, factory sights are definitely a weak point of the series. I put TFX Pros on mine and love them.
But, glad you like the gun overall

That looks like good shooting to me!

I haven't had a chance to shoot mine yet. This weekend, my family and I are visiting some friends in Jacksonville. My buddy is still on active duty. He and his wife have kids the same age as my kids. And we've all been friends for several years.

But that's not a very good excuse.

I've bought our built about 10 guns in the last year, and I have only shot two of them. I guess I'm just too lazy to walk into my back yard and put up a target.

I've had those Zombie Green/Black G10 CZ-97B grips sitting on my desk for 2 weeks! I finally got around to putting them on today. LOK Grips are fantastic and I will definitely recommend them to anyone who asks. The fit and finish are perfect. And the G10 material feels so grippy. I love them!

They look good...told ya they multiply lol.
In fact, I pick up another P01 and a 75BD project gun this weekend.

I'll have to do an updated family photo of them all after I pick up those and the one the ol lady has at the cerakoters place.

Yeah...see...that's how it happens...one day you are like "Those CZs are nice" and the next thing you have 12 of them and wonder where they have been your whole life and think of all the other things that may be hidden from you.

@Alabamacoastie this man aint lying
