I have the opportunity to purchase a used R1 Hunter in 10mm. Price is great. In original box with one mag. Opinions?

When I say great price, I mean friggin dirt cheap.
Then why are you asking us?
Looking for someone to blame it on to the wife?
"X" told me to buy the damn gun, I didn't want to but he made me!

Buy the damn gun!

Whatever I want!

But really, I'm looking to see if anyone has bad experiences with them or if they're solid.
You asked if you should buy it. I’m gonna come across as somebody's old man, but I’d say if you don’t have a specific intended purpose for a long slide 1911, I’d probably hang on to those benjamins.

Is it a recent production Remington? If it is the answer is always no.

I had a R1 Enhanced .45 for a while, I really liked it. Only reason I traded it was I got offered a stupid good deal on a S&W .44 mag. If that had not happened, it would still be in the safe. Kinda apples to potatoes, but same family of 1911’s.

I think the Remington 1911 have had solid reviews. The cheapest I can find it on gun.deals is $840 plus shipping and transfer so $650 is a smoking deal if you want a 10mm 1911.

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to give it a really through look over on Monday. If nothing raises any eyebrows, I'll make it mine. Just in time for deer season.

I have a strange want for a 10mm. Especially a 6” one.
I’d snag one if I had the cash. While I’m not a big fan of new Remys, I’ve shot a few R1s that seemed quite nice.
Been wanting the Tanfo 10mm Hunter. Used to be able to get them for around 900, but seems they’ve raised prices across their range recently.

Haha, was able to ninja edit before your quote!

But yeah, usually it is me fighting auto correct and having to retype all my curse words. Which I prefer to use over regular words most of the time!

Get the gun.....Get in touch with Underwood for some ammo that gets you where the first ones were. 200 grain at 1,200.
Thanks Billy! I handload & have bunches already loaded up for the G20. Some 200gn FMJ-FP are loaded up around that velocity.

BTW, the fellas at Mid-South said hello. Picked up that S&W 3914 there last week.

Sounds like you are way ahead of me in your bullet selection!!!! Perfect!!!! You won't find better folks than the crew at Mid South!

This is what I see too.
Remington struggles with some things, but still manages to kick out something decent every now and then. The 870 comes to mind, especially the wingmaster.
By most accounts the R1 series seems to be a pretty good line.
