I am considering picking up one of these. I will most likely put a brace on it and call it a day. Down the road I might SBR it.

With the Sig MPX is looks great but I see so many conflicting reports. Have the bugs been worked out of the Gen 2s? How good or bad are your triggers? Mags are very expensive. Without the brace these things are down to about $1200. You can get a collapsible brace for $200. While not cheap is it still cheaper than say the MKE Z-5RS.

The MKE can be had with discounts for about $1800 which just seems like to much coin for a gun that should cost $1000. These are a solid reliable design that has been proven and from all accounts the MKE are the best HK clone you can currently get. It is a classic look that I simply love. The HK factor really inflates their price IMHO.

Then the CZ Scorpion which is the lowest cost option. You can get the Scorpion for $700 and brace it with Gearhead Works Tailhook for about $250. I know HBI has $9 springs that really help the trigger here. They are not as visually appealing to me as the other 2 but the lower cost might be enough for me to overlook that.

So if you have the $$$ which one would you go with?

Guess it depends on what you want to do with it. Without a doubt the mpx is the best shooting PCC I've put my hands on. That being said, I'm running a cobbled together ar9.

In all honesty it will be a range toy with a possible backup role as a home defense gun.

Do you have or will you have a suppressor? If not, mpx. If so, scorpion. Lack of gas in the face would be a huge plus with a can for me. I don't know about the zenith.

I really like the 8" Sig MPX for sh**s and grins. It cycles 115's and 147's very reliably, and can easily ring a 10" gong at 100 yds with a Sig Romeo red dot on top, and brace extended.
The folding brace gives a longer length of pull and better cheek weld than the telescoping brace. But, the telescoping brace is much more compact if you're carrying it in a case. The trigger pull is heavy (6-6.5 lbs) but fairly clean. Geissele is supposed to have a new trigger available soon.
The barrel is threaded 13mm left hand, which reduces the choices for muzzle devices. But, works great with a suppressor.
Replacement barrels and hand guards are available with few choices, and high prices. Hopefully, that will improve over time. They currently ship with no sights.
One of my shooting buddies is on the shooting team for I.C.E.. He said they requested MPX's for the team, but got turned down.
He loved shooting the one I brought so much he threatened to leave me in a shallow grave in the woods so he could take it.
I'm pretty sure he was just joking....

Suppressor is a consideration down the road. Thanks for reminding me.

How does it do with 124gr?

I don’t have any experience with the MKE, but I own an MPX, and owned both the Scorpion and HK 94 for a brief time. I cannot complain about the HK, it was a fine subgun but honestly overpriced. The magazines for the HK were expensive to get quality ones that I trusted. The Scorpion is the best buy out of all, but if you are like me, hate the safety, and grip, then you will have an extra $100 in changing those. It is honestly a crapshoot on buying magazines and getting the ones that didn’t crack.

I ended up keeping the Gen2 MPX. While the Gen 2 Mags are expensive, I run both Gen 1 and Gen2 in mine. It runs them great and Gen 1 Mags can be bought for as cheap as $15-25 each. The trigger is heavy but can be replaced with any that will fit a standard AR. As far as surprised MPXs, I have only ran an AAC Tirant 9 on mine, and blowback was not an issue.

All three are great, they each have pros and cons.

I was faced with same decision, after much research went with the sig. As I age (to possibly replace a short barreled 12 gauge for HD) or in the off chance I have to arm a child or petite female I wanted something light recoiling but fairly formidable. The sig is extremely well thought out and well made, handles extremely well. If you can ignore the money I think the sig is the winner hands down, if cost is an issue the CZ seems to be a fairly easy winner.

I've heard the mp5 variants have issues cycling hollow points. Cz = budget friendly.

Why not both? ;) I have to say that both provide equal fun factor.

I know what Im saving for, and its not listed here, but dang close.
I will have a SP5K in the future.

Here’s mine, CZ Pistol with the Flash Can hand guard, Gearhead Tailhook brace.

I took the flash can off, and put a 3 lug and running my Optimus can.

I would pick the MPX. But I think it feels clunky and huge compared to an AR9. But it's by far the smoothest and flattest of the PCC's I have shot.

I really like the CZ but the trigger is no bueno, so the only way I would own one is if a replaced it with CZ custom (240$) and changed safety and grip (another 100$) so that makes it not so much a bargain anymore. And, I don't care for the forearm ergos much. Great guns tho.

I don't know what that other thing is but when I hear "HK" I run away. I would use PCC for matches and this would be next to useless for that, and as a range toy I'd get bored with it in the 5minutes when it became apparent the performance sucks, lol. HK: over-priced and over-rated. HK clones: even more so. Just my opinion, don't come at me HK loverz!!

You should try my cz scorpion with all the trigger work done from shooters element. It will change your mind about it not being a bargain.

Nice.
@Slappy McTrigger did a lot of work to his as well and made it a lot better. Much funner to shoot.

But still not a CMC!

I'd put it against a CMC any day! :D trust me you will be a believer.

God, I come off as such a douche with this post. Sorry fellas.

Well dang. That sounds like a very confident endorsement! Might have to give that a try at some point.

Mine is tons better as well and how it should have left the factory. The CZC trigger is still calling me but other priorities and the price tag have kept me away. If the mpx upper was a little more universal especially the forearm I’d sell my scorpion is a heartbeat.

@wvsig I’d also take a hard look at the JP if you’re already contemplating spending MPX money.

ETA: never mind, just saw you were going to go the pistol/brace route.

What was their turn time? What did they charge you for shipping back to you? I am intially looking to brace it but might end up going the SBR route down the road.

It arrived on a Friday and he knocked it out over the weekend. It was on the way back on Monday. The great part is you can remove the lower trigger pack of the cz and ship it 2 day usps for $7 each way. No FFL required.

I own the Scorpion in this photo and the Sig is my son-in-laws. The firing pin in the Sig broke after 200 rounds. I think the Sig has a bit less felt recoil, likely do to the type brace installed on the Sig, but both as 9mm guns are easy to shoot and handle. Accuracy was about the same and both rang steel out to 75 yards with easy and are fun to play with. factoring in the price difference I was happy I owned the Scorpion.

First let me say I do dig the Sig and I would love to have one, I've never handled or shot a Scorpion.

That said I'll come to the defense of the MKE guns since no one else has. Mine is an older ATI imported carbine and has proven itself with thousands of rounds in both SA and as a FA host. The gun runs as well as any German gun for a fraction of the cost. All the furniture I've tried fits easily without using a hammer to install or remove the pins.

Welds look good and I was even okay with the finish although it was refinished after installing a MP5 barrel. Hell I shot it for 2 years with the goofy 16" barrel before I SBR'ed the thing. No problems with using German or Korean mags. German FA BCG fit & functioned fine after removal of the carrier block. I've fed it a steady diet of cast lead & jacketed reloads for years now both suppressed and unsuppressed without issues. Shoot enough and you'll change some extractor springs as they are a wear item.

The real sleeper, IMO, is the HK SP5K now available. Once these are gone everybody is going to mutter about how they should have bought one when they had the chance. The HK roller locked guns will always cost more than polymer or CNC machined guns due to the labor involved with their construction.

Aren't those fairly expensive, when you can actually find one? Are they actually worth their price, especially with so many other options out there?

I guess its all in what you value a quality roller locked gun to be worth and the fact that most of us never expected to see a real German made MP5 type gun in the U.S. again makes it worth their asking price. They list around $2500 and most dealers are out right now but expect more soon.

I paid $2600 for my SP89 twenty years ago and was happy to do it, in fairness it came with some extras. Prices running from $2200 to $2500 seems fair in today dollars. Take a look at the cost of top tier clones like those from Dakota Tactical and the HK SP5K seems like a bargain.
