I think I read that you can put white paint on the front sight and outline the back sight on your revolver in white...yes? No? Bad idea? Good?

Try painting the front sight and leaving the rear black.

The biggest problem I see is that we're talking about revolvers

Are revolvers a problem? Lol. The back sight isn't really a sight it's more of a.....u shape.

You want a good contrast, so don’t go white front/ white rear.

I would pick up some very brightly colored nail polish - think neon green, red, yellow - for the front. Then put the white in back.

Try a couple different combos until you find the one YOUR eyes see best. Then, cover the bright color with a clear coat and you're done.

In short range shooting, your focus should be 100% FRONT sight, so make that the brightest spot in the mix.

I use a dab of bright orange nail polish on my front sights and toenails. I do nothing to the rear sight. I don't even like a white outline.

Wouldn't white be the brightest? And so shouldn't it go in front?

Paint! I win!

They also make a sight paint that kinda glows in the dark. Ignore @Butter wheelguns are awesomesauce!

Revolvers are for those stuck in Dodge City circa 1878

They're good for being stuck in Berlin in 2016 as well.... (S&W 686)

As well as in Tunis during the 2015 terrorist attacks on the beach...It's odd to see both revolvers and Steyr AUGs in the same setting...(S&W M10, 13 & 19s)

Did you notice how the Tunisians are exhibiting very good trigger/muzzle discipline, mounting the long guns to their shoulders and actually using the sights? (unlike most other troops across MENA).

PS: A good application of Neon Orange enamel paint to the front sight is really all you'll need...Quick close range defensive shooting is all about training your eye to bring the front sight into sharp focus (everything else slightly out of focus), while you smoothly press the trigger straight to the rear, keeping the sights aligned, under duress and in a compressed timeframe.

Sounds complicated at first, but after mastering the basics and constantly maintaining the basics, it all becomes a well-conditioned response.

Get a Neon Orange paint pen at Wally World. Paint front sight ramp. Take black sharpie, and color in rear sight notch. You're done.
