When I first started to carry a gun daily back in 96, I carried a full size Colt 1911 in 10mm, carried for 10 years. When to the Beretta 92, and then G19. About 6 months ago I picked up a P365XL and have loved carrying this gun. With the nice fall weather, I thought why not carry the 1911, I can help cover it with a jacket. Holy Shit!! How did a carry such a big heavy gun...The sig has really spoiled me.

Same here
I've changed all my edc 1911s to lightweight models but I still notice the size and weight difference compared to my 938.

If you like 1911 platforms, take a look at the Springfield Ronin EMP3 in 9mm. It has an aluminum frame and weighs in at just 24oz empty. 9+1 single stack w/overall length of 6.6" . It is the smallest true 1911 on the market. I have lots of 1911's in .45 cal. but this one was built for EDC, especially for ole farts like me. I am 80.

Yep, I’m right there with you. Carried a Para Ordnance P-14 in a IWB holster for years. Then switched to a Beretta 92 IWB. Next came a Glock 17 and thought wow! Now the Glock 48 and 43, don’t think I could go back to the Glock 17 and defiantly not the P-14. Steel frame and 15 rounds of .45 ACP are really heavy!

With all the trouble my back gives me now, the 365x is about the only gun i carry comfortably. I'm toying with selling the g19 but something in me says don't do it.

Yeah, but if you knew there was a potential for trouble, there's comfort in those big rounds. ;)

I usually put a Shield in my front right pocket. Fits right and feels good, but I have to use situational awareness to put my hand in my pocket to make sure I can get it out. I definitely can't leave it in a pocket while driving and expect to draw it.

I used to have some cargo shorts with pockets big enough to put a full-sized 1911 in. It was very uncomfortable due to weight, but it worked. Now with the added capacity of some of the smaller guns I think I should upgrade.

Same here started carrying in 2005 went through several including full size and compact 1911’s. Now I carry a p365. I also got a FN 509m and found I can carry it comfortably in a hidden hybrid holster. I liked that holster so much I got one for my p365.

I carried nothing but .45's on 1911 platforms until my mid-50's. Still have my Mark IV Series 70 full-size Colt that is a tack driver. Sold my Gold Cup and Colt Officer's Elite. I even carried a Glock 23, then converted it to a Glock 19 with a Wolf conversion kit. Reliability and accuracy were my priorities. It took me years to be convinced that a 9mm round could replace a .45 but the new statistics and ballistics finally did just that. I EDC a number of 9mms now which include the S&W Shield, G26 and the Springfield Hellcat. In the winter, when I can wear a jacket, my Commander-sized Springfield Crimson Stealth Pro II .45 rides in an Alien Gear shoulder holster. The new Ronin fits all my 1911 holster rigs and is a welcomed addition to my EDC because nothing in my arsenal beats the triggers of 1911 single-action smoothness and quick resets. So, yeah. You can teach an ole dog new tricks but my love for the 1911 is still there.

I have developed a nerve problem that inhibits carrying on a belt, or more honestly maybe I have a weight problem with one symptom being a nerve problem that inhibits carrying on a belt, but it caused my right leg to go numb. Haven’t been able to get comfortable with pocket carry. Fall makes me think of shoulder holsters.

I also have been spoiled by the smaller guns. The P365 seems, for me, to be a near perfect balance of reliability, accuracy, capacity, and size. And it fits either comfortably IWB or in my pocket. Even my “not so large” P-07 has been on a long vacation since I got the 365.

G43/snub or similar slides right into a goose down vest front pocket along with a sticky holster. If you start the zipper a little there's no annoying pendulum swing. I haven't gotten old/fat enough yet to pull off the "shoot me first" fishing vest yet, but I'm getting close.

I grew up yankee, it may be cold enough here for a goose down vest 4 days a year. I’ve actually never carried in a light jacket pocket, might try that with the p365. Thanks!

I'm wearing one this morning. The dog won't walk herself unfortunately. Crocs, shorts, long sleeve cotton shirt, puffy vest w/heater.

I have many shoulder rigs; but, my most comfortable is the Alien Gear Shape Shifter. You can get holster shells to accommodate just about anything on the market. This rig is on the pricey side; but, you will definitely use it a lot because of the comfort. Others strain your back. This one will support a heavy gun all day with no problems.

I've seen review that say it's a good gun, others that say it jams a lot. I'm up in the air on this one, they look good, but I need my CCW gun to run.

Guilty!!! I tend to carry one or two Glock 43s now…all the time. It shoots great, is easy to carry and conceal and reliable. Did I mention it shoots great?

Hah..."shoot me first vest"...years ago when I first got into shooting and carrying I bought one of those from a guy on the forums. Got it and thought it was awesome, and proceeded to almost never wear it because it does reek with "Look at me! I have a gun!". I assumed I would get into some shooting matches where I may need it. Never have. Its been relegated to "costume" duty.

The Shield and now Shield Plus have absolutely ruined carrying bigger handguns for me. Especially the 4” PC model
Exactly! I have a shield, shield plus, 4” PC Plus, and 4” Compact. 13rd in the 4” Plus makes it seem silly to carry the 15rd 4” compact.

It doesn't like certain brands of ammo. Mine jammed a lot at first because I was using IMI die cut 124 jacketed HP. No problem with Fiocchi ammo. Some guns are like that. Most require a break-in period of several hundred rounds. I will not put a gun in my EDC rotation unless I have absolute confidence that it will not jam.
