The 3906 is incredibly well made, as are all 3rd Generation S&Ws. It is also somewhat scarce as a full-size, all-steel, single-stack 9mm. Unfortunately, I found the grip of the one I had was too slender to be able to shoot comfortably and accurately, although it could potentially be just what a person with small hands needs.

I apologize for hijacking the thread but can't resist showing off my 6906. A previous owner polished the slide and colored the logo on the grip.

Like the rest of us, you were thinking about "the next gun". I'm not sure there's anything special about this combination of polishing and finishing the frame that wouldn't lend itself to any 3rd gen model.
