Smith & Wesson 360J Japanese Service Revolver

Good article... nice insight into Japanese gun culture.

Looks like a 442...

and a 932 as well.

Interesting article. I have a M360J. It has an interesting roll mark It says .38 S&W. Not .38 spl +P. The box says as well as their customer service say it is a .38 spl +P . No explanantion of the mark and no real info otherwise on the gun. It hasn't ever been in their catalog as far as I know.

Where and price please? I have an urge to own one since this thread was posted.

I found mine at Beltway Gun and Pawn in Matthews. It was the only one.

You can find them online, GunBroker, etc. Expect to pay $375-$450, depending upon condition, box, etc. Might have to pay more if not many in the market. Four on GunBroker right now. One is a NIB example with a "buy it now" price of $429.

I picked one up on gun broker about 2 years ago brand new for $270. I didn’t even know what it was but couldn’t pass up a new jframe for that price. I have never shot it though since I wasn’t sure if this was going to be a collectible or not. As for the 38sp vs 38+p versions, I did hear that the 38sp only version was released previously around the late 90s. Do you think there will be a value on this thing or just shoot away.

Go ahead and shoot it. Seriously. It’ll never be super collectible. It’s sort of an oddball, but Smith makes a lotnoff oddballs. You stole it at $270.

Anyone have a thought on the comment that this could potentially be converted to .357 mag? I saw a YouTube video on that once. Not that I have an interest in blistering my hands, but i reload 38 and 357 and it would be nice to reduce my brass down to one kind.

There are some old threads on the Smith forum addressing that issue.

FYI Cabelas in Garner has one of these in the Gun Library, filed under E for expensive. Marked factory refurb with FDE color grips. $679 I think...

I bought one from palmento state a couple years ago for $350 i think, carry it some and I like it, maybe I should carry it all the time? I put some Black VZ's on it and took out lock put in plug good to go!
