So, Whatchu Been Up To Today?

Unfortunately I slogged through taxes on this beautiful day. I have no idea why I was thinking they'd be easier this year... My employer changed insurance last year and added an HSA, my wife had a disability leave, and we juggled some childcare so once again we need to track down new EINs. At least I got in a trip to a hardware store, but mainly for traps to deal with the rats that are raiding our chicken coop!

Planted some tomatoes, took the top of the Jeep, ate lunch at Griffin's in Youngsville, then spent the rest of the afternoon driving up around Kerr Lake with the wind in our hair. Ate dinner at Shucker's in Wake Forest. Gorgeous day to be out and about.

Pistol training from 8AM till 4PM today with a good friend.

I've been waiting in lines...just for the privilege of waiting in another line, for which the reward is more waiting.

And now I'm finally back at the RV, after a long walk, about 4 boat rides and two bus rides...all to avoid a couple metal detectors.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Took my brother to the range.

Happy Easter everyone
Yall have a wonderful day with friends and family.

... I'll be doing neither.
Working my part time job (thats right, a millennial with a full and part time job because I like buying cool toys) and all of my family [ ALL ] are out of town this weekend.

Yesterday: Worked in the yard a bit. Cut pieces to make a frame around both bathroom mirrors. Started modifying the chicken run to split it and make two separate runs. Worked on cleaning up the cheap above ground pool that I let get out of hand. Cooked a steak dinner for my Dad to celebrate his 71st b'day.

Today: Probably more of the same with the exception of the steak dinner.

Married my daughter off, in the mountains of Amhurst VA.
and I thought buying guns was costing me $$$$$ sh1t weddn stuff aint nooooooooo joke son.

Well thanks a lot. Now I feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Mine is getting married in July. I knew I shoulda bought that Browning at the pawn shop a while back.

Happy Easter to everyone!

Friday, I bought plants at Lowes and Saturday was the day to plant.
But, before planting, I needed to put Roundup out and spray the yard for weeds.
Started around 8am with the Roundup and by the time I finished, it had started raining.

So, inside to just chill for a bit, then went to Agri-Supply for another brand of grass/weed killer.
Came home, mixed that up and put out where the Roundup goes.
Sprayed the yard.
By the time all this was done, it was nearly lunch time, so I finished off some chicken & augratin potatoes.

Got busy with the planting...first had to drill holes into an old cooler that was doing nothing but collecting rainwater, pine needles, limbs, etc.
Got it filled with a bit of dirt, lugged it up onto the deck, added potting mix.
Back to Hudson's for more potting mix to plant the veggies.
The cooler is for an herb garden.

Finally, around 3:30-4pm, I'm getting the last of stuff planted.
What a day.
I was pretty tired, but also managed to grill some burgers & sausages (to go with pasta this evening).

Here ya go - a few pics...
Tomato plants, grape tomatoes, jalapeños, habanero, sweet red bell, & various herbs.
Still have a couple containers...may get a few more things & finish planting tomorrow.

I'm worn out today, actually went back to bed around 8:30a and got up a bit after 10a.

Guess I'll just take it easy today, going shortly to have Easter Lunch with friends and just maybe do nothing the rest of the afternoon.
A couple friends want to ride bikes this evening, 5pm, I'm a maybe I think.
Unless I acquire some more energy.

Did manage to also cook some food and eat last night, "cooking" thread. :)

Hope everyone has had a great weekend, stay safe.

Got one more day off after today.
Not sure of those plans, I'd really like to go shoot some, but guess I'll wait & see.

Need to get dressed and get moving this morning. Been sitting around doing nothing far too long. :)

Smoked some wings and a pork tenderloin for dinner. Trimmed some crepe myrtles. Rode around in the Jeep with the blond chick, then put the top back on it for the upcoming work week.

My last day off.
Not much planned, a bicycle ride this morning, a few errands, and maybe find somewhere (Neuse Greenway maybe) to walk for 30-45min this afternoon before it possibly rains.

Y'all have a great day & stay safe.

First half of the day was spent driving my dad's RV home from Brunswick, GA. Second half was spent dreading going back to work tomorrow....since the last day I worked was Fri 4/7.

Hauled 1035lbs of metal to the recycler, which has a new owner - one of my ol HS classmates. Put a bug in thier ear about calling me when they get lead in. Bought 5 whopping lbs of wheelweights for $3 and told them I would pay 60 cents for nearly all lead WWs anytime

Right now Im watching Gangs of New York.

More I watch Leonardo Decaprio the more I enjoy his talents
And Daniel Day Lewis - he kills it in every role he plays.

Watching Life Below Zero on Netflix.

Rainy day here and I'm kinda tired from all my work outside yesterday.
Plus didn't sleep well due to having some really bad cramping in my right leg, inside quad all the way down past my knee.
Not once, but 3-4 times.

No pickle juice to drink either.

Not sure why I had them, drank a gallon of water while working yesterday, but I did have salt crusty arms & legs when done..

So, just chillin', watching tv, maybe cook something later today.

I bought 2 metal shelves a week ago and have completed one and started working on the other today.

Removed the lower shelves and sanded them down. I just put on the first coat of herculiner on them.

Before I started.

I'll post a picture once I have it completed if anyone is interested me

Yesterday I replaced the battery in the lawnmower, put flashing on my outbuilding to reroute the rain and help that big @$$ puddle that forms in front of the door, cut grass and weed eated around the house, then took a shower with the ol lady (always a plus lol) before she took me out for dinner and some pool shooting.
Today, I've been on the road (two hours one way) meeting another member for business. Took some time to window shop at a couple gun shops before stopping by my brother in laws house to see my nephew for a bit on my way home.

Been working too much.

Participated in the Absolute Sniper Match at FLD this past Sunday. Didn't do as well as I thought I could have, considering a few stages were prone and I should have hit more in that position.
Still learning. :)

Been working in my back yard of late, after work.
I killed all the weeds and I'm tired of the brown crunchy stuff.
So, I've raked that away to get to the soil, roto-tilled with some little handheld job, put some sun/shade mix of grass seed out, and yesterday covered with some straw.
Hopefully, I'll get something to grow back.

Going to work on that more this afternoon and maybe tomorrow.
Really need to get out into the woods at Clemmons Educational Forest in Clayton tomorrow for some relax/peace time in the woods.

As for the rest of today...I'm leaving work at 12:30, using 1.5hr vacation and since I rode the Monster to work today, I'm gonna ride some this afternoon.
That's relaxing as well.
Hopefully, next week, I can get back to my 3-4 days of bicycling after work.
The rainy weather sorta messed that up with flooding on the Neuse Greenway in the Clayton area.

Y'all have a good day & stay safe!

Rode the Monster for 2hr after work today.
It was really nice.
I can see how I quit riding the bicycle back in 2014 now.
But that's not gonna happen this time.
Not been a great 2 weeks for bicycling, due to the weather, but after this weekend, it's looking good. :)

Didn't really feel like doing yard work this evening but I did get the fire pit cleaned out and picked some herbs.
Not sure what I'm gonna do with all the herbs I'm getting.
A little Basil, Oregano, and Dill this evening.
Need to figure out what to fix/use this with...

OK.

Just chilling on the deck right now, maybe an adult beverage in a bit, since it is my Friday. :)

I know I'm really looking forward to Sunday w my son.

Y'all have a good evening, stay safe.

Area beautification, that's what lol.
I've been up to makin Mrs Draco happy...cleaned out the flower beds and hauled in 4 & 1/2 yards of river rock. She's been wanting it for a while, so I hope she's happy :)
Pretty good Mothers Day gift, imo lol. Gotta get some grass to grow in a couple of spots to even up the lines, but I'm pretty happy with how it looks so far.
Even had a 77 year old woman (my mom) showin the kids how it's done towards the end. She's never been one to sit on the sidelines lol.
As just an FYI...third picture shows my pride and joy. That rose bush under the trellis was my granny's and is close to a hundred years old. It's been well cared for. In the fourth picture, just in front of the metal deer, is its twin sister. That one is going on twenty years. All the others are newer additions anywhere from 5-10 years old. We love our roses around here :D
I'm about wore out lol...it's time to kick off the boots, grab an adult beverage, and probably order pizza cuz NOONE wants to cook after all that lol

I was hanging out at the the Celtic Festival in Bethabara Park, Winston Salem. Watched most of the heavy athletics, enjoyed the bagpiping, had a ball. One of the guys in the caber toss had to be nearing 50 and he flipped it rather handily. And yeah, my heritage is heavily Scottish with associations in 2 of the Highland Clans.

Had a great day. For the first time in, well, ever that I can remember I went with both of my brothers and my dad to a shooting range.

Little back story. I am the "white sheep" of the family. Conservative, Christian, have kids, all that jive. My brothers are the artistic, musician, liberal leaning, non-firearm types. Generally speaking. A few months ago my oldest brother asked me to take him shooting and he loved it. Has asked me to go back a few times. So this weekend when they all wanted to go it was awesome. Finally getting them to hurl some lead is a great feeling as I think it's now something we can bond over. Oh, and even though I'm the "baby" I'm the best shot and most experienced.

The pistol is a Redhawk .44 magnum. My oldest brother both wants to get to be a better more accurate shot...but he loves recoil and extremely loud noises. (His rock concert was so loud once they made a girl puke.).

The AR is a franken AR I built from PSA, Anderson, and a Primary Arms micro dot.

The brother shooting it, after the first 5 rounds stood up (Wesmar, 5 rounds only per mag) and grinned and said "I want one..."

Never thought I'd see the day.

Watched 16 year old girls play volleyball for about 9 hours. Got a little sunburn on this crappy day, my car battery croaked and I had no lunch. So had a few slices of pizza and now am sitting back with a nice Irish Whisky and watching the hockey game. Damn I'm tired.

Family shooting is good stuff. Just hope you are not arming the enemy!
