I wanted to build another AR in Foliage Green, but the color was discontinued several years ago. I managed to find some stuff still in stock. Both the old and new firearms are .50 Beowulf, and most of the mags available are metal. Cerakote offers Magpul Foliage Green, but I ran across this article recently: https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2018/05/15/diy-foliage-green-spray-paint/

And bought a can of the recommended primer (pic from the article):

Here’s the can, two D&H mags, and a foliage PMag:

It’s grey, but definitely has a green tint. I’m gonna put it in the “close enough for me” category:

Going green is good!

The mag in the pic above was just the primer. I also bought a clear coat because the article mentioned the primer was easily scratched.

Clear coated primer on left, bare primer on right. Went ahead and sprayed the other one with clear after I took the pic. Not sure one version matches better than the other, but I like the clear coated one better.

You could buy tan mags and rit-dye.
I have 10 PMags in the color I need.

I’m trying to find a solution to change the black metal mags I already have. Both Alexander Arms and D&H mags made for big bore ammo.

I can't find any. I read they were discontinued? I want to make some bananna clips.
FDE (which I’d call tan) still exists
Sand is what was discontinued

Went ahead and sprayed four more...the two Alexander Arms mags I’ve had for awhile, and the two D&H Beowulf mags I got a couple weeks ago.

For comparison, all the newly sprayed metal mags are vertical. Bottom left is an ODG PMag and a black D&H with an ODG stripe and stencil. Bottom middle is a gray Hexmag. Bottom right is an FDE D&H (cake that way, not sure what the finish is) and FDE PMag.

Forgot to put the foliage PMag in the above pic, but here’s the SBR and all the foliage mags.

I think I have a foliage rear MBUS coming this week.
