I have a silver level USCCA membership, and a plan with US Lawshield. My reasoning being that one would cover me in the event the other didn’t, I had a risky job, etc.

Now I just finished Andrew Branca’s DVD on the different self defense insurance companies... appears US lawshield was not one he had much faith in & even the top tier USCCA plan, which I have the lowest tier they don’t even offer anymore, is well short of the amount he thinks a trial could be. :(

I contacted USCCA about this and they say “well the civil trial is the most expensive aspect & there you are covered for two million with our elite plan.”

Well what concern is that if I’m in prison for the next few decades?:rolleyes: You see I have committed the ultimate sin of being a white conservative male, which is

So now I’m back to wanting the Elite USCCA plan, or the CCW Safe option & those are both flawed too.

USCCA is best at responding to questions, better YouTube channel of past incidents of members, but CCW Safe has better policy.

But the one time I emailed them about membership I asked a question & they responded with only a half hazard reading and in effect, stated answers to questions I didn’t ask vs what I did. That doesn’t encourage me to trust them with my life & freedom. The Don West as trial counsel does however...

And now until I decide what to do, I’m going to be nervous carrying again. :(

Yes, I know odds of actual use are rare. But I don’t carry because I think things are going to happen. If I knew something was going to happen, I’d stay home or bring a bigger gun than just a pistol.

And the Stephen Maddox case proves that we can’t just say “oh that stuff doesn’t happen here, we only have disgusting leftist DA’s in CA or Chicago.”

I have the USAA and it's better than nothing. They give you a number to call to at least get the legal ball rolling when needed. Note: At this point, you are alive.

What kind of policy is it through USAA, I have them for auto and home and have been pleased with everything.

Id say you have more insurance already than 99% of those that carry

Quit worrying
Stop thinking you'll get shot all the time
Relax and keep your head on a swivel

George Zimmerman’s defense was about 1.7 million dollars, Stephen Maddox’s case was $350,000... without good insurance, I’d only be defending myself to have to live on the run like Josey Wales faced with those amounts.

It’s not the physical fight that scares me, I’m confident enough in my skills to do a William Tell type shot at 7 yards except I’m too responsible a gun owner to do so. :D;)

It’s the legal side that scares me. I know the government well enough to know they’d sell us all back into slavery in Africa if they thought they could get away with it.

This road rage situation is worth watching.

Bro, you do you, it's your money, I aint hating

Look into an umbrella policy that will cover you for not only CCW but other types of liability. I think that would be a more efficient use of your money. The chances of using it for other issues besides a CCW event are much higher and at the same time would give you piece of mind.

I have an umbrella policy that I've kept for years, and CCW Safe at $16 a month.
I honestly think way more about ways to avoid shooting someone than the finer details of my insurance policies.

There's at least two sides to any shooting.
The criminal side is dependent on the jurisdiction (where), and who's involved, followed by the facts.
The civil side depends on whether you have any assets worth going after. Nobody files suits that can't pay off.
If you have assets, an umbrella policy can help pay if you are found liable for whatever reason (gun, car, etc.).
