Of course, at 22 he should doing exactly that.
Tuesday I took him to get his own car insurance for the first time, and reinstate his license after having surrendered it for just over a year. Then transferred my 2012 Veloster to him. BTW, this car, though it looks small, is perfect for him and his 6'5" frame.
The next day, the owner of the DTV office he works at in Raleigh took him and several others to Tampa Florida. My son was loving driving again.
To top it off, the owner is taking over the Tampa FL zone and wants my son to go down there too.
The folks in the office in Tampa had already heard of my son, in a good way.
The move will be more complicated than a typical 22 year old because he needs to get connected with specialists before the move. As many of you know he has the medical history as thick as someone 2 or 3 times his age. But that is just part of "adulting."
He really has found his grove in sales.
On the plus side, it will cut my health insure premium by about $500 a month when he moves because he will have insurance through his employer. :D

My son is definitely doing well these days. My wife is more nervous and protective than I am. I'm not quite the throw the baby in the pool type. But I was out of the house lots than a month after high school graduation. Granted, I didn't feel like I was on my own until after I graduated from college at age 29.

Tell him to take a good hard look at traffic between where he wants to live and the office, commuting is a PITA around Tampa.
I lived in Valrico for 14 years and worked downtown Tampa.

Good luck, Tampa is a nice area, even with all the A-holes from up north.

I told him that I'm not ready to be a grandfather yet.

Why put off one of the best things in life? Grandkids is where it's at. I got 6 of them. They are some of the best things their parents ever did.

I made my father wait until he was 59, when our son was born. He was at the hospital in record time after I called him.
For our daughter, he drove through heavy rain and wind just below tropical storm to see her at the hospital.
He died from cancer before he got see his other 4 grandchildren from my siblings.

Ah, the joys of grand parenting. Load them with sugar, wind them up and send them home. :D
