What do you do for a tough watch that can take a beating? Also won’t look like a girls watch on me hefty appendage? Also fits a wrist the size of most guys’ calves/ankles?
My wrist is approximately 9-10” around....

I’m guessing an iWatch for non-work time is out of the question?

I have a Swiss Army dive watch good to 500 meters I can put on your wrist.
You may need to get a new band with a wrist your size.

That's a very personal question. Depends on the looks you prefer and how tough you want it. Lots of people like Casio's and they have tons of options. Then again you can spend 1,000's and get better watches.

If you're looking for cheap, Casio MRW200h. ~$15. 43-44mm
Casio G shock take a good whack at reasonable prices.
I've had good luck with timex Ironman but the bands tend to die early.
I don't have any experience with watches over $100 because I always forget I'm wearing my good watch and manage to wreck it.

Price range?

Casio protreks and gshocks
Luminox
Timex

If you are also active, get a Garmin fenix 5S/ or 5X. I have hit mine against the ceramic tile wall of the pool. Not a scratch on the sapphire glass face.
The most rugged of all the multi-function watches out there.

9-10” wrist? WTH ... yep, my ankle is 10”. Anyway my best watch is a Citizen Eco-Drive diver. No batteries to change, water resistant, gun recoil resistant and damn accurate. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B016R90VBK/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_6?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1 I beat the crap out of watches and this one has been a tank except for the band ... replaced it with a NATO nylon band but it is only good for maybe a 8” wrist but Barton does make one good for 11” https://smile.amazon.com/BARTON-Wat...41123011&psd=1&keywords=Large+nato+watch+band .

You are gonna need to pick a watch and add a large aftermarket band most likely.

For work? Timex Ironman or Casio g shock for the money. Buy a band off Amazon that's the right width and length...

I've beat the hell out of this one. For the money, it's a damned good watch.

I've got the same one but black. Also beat the hell out it.

The previous G-Shock I had lasted about 7 years, went through a metric ton of training exercises, ranges, 2 deployments, unknown fluids, and who knows what else. I think I got my money's worth out of it.

Big fan of G-Shock. This my....third? Fourth maybe. I still have the others in various stages of functionality. This one is the mudmaster, pricier than most of the others, but virtually indestructible. The only thing I do not like it's the backlight.

As @aznginf sad, I've worn them deployed, in the field, diving, any which way and they still take a heap of abuse.

The basic models start around forty bucks, and you can't beat it.

I had a Citizen dive watch, it wasn't the Eco Drive, it had battery. We were actually issued it. At the end of the trial they allowed us to purchase them and keep them. It was a fair watch, but some of the features like bottom time stopped working after a little while, so the only thing that worked was the basic watch function.

I think that the G-shock’s are some of the ugliest watches ever produced, but they do apparently take a beating.

I too suffer from giant wrists. I had the same problems when I was searching for a fitness watch.

If you choose one that takes a standard strap you can find extra large ones at a jewelry dept. or Amazon. Some of the fit bits have extra long bands but they are special order.

I just got the Fitbit Versa and the large strap has three extra holes for me; this wasn't true for the HR or Surge.

I'm really liking the versa right now.

A little secret I learned from the wife, cruise the TJ Maxx stores and website to find great deals on name brand watches.

G Shock here. Mine caught on a tree stand ladder that I fireman slid down and held my 220lb ass up. I've stuck it against egg burrs on a lathe, whacked it on countless things, and it just loves the abuse.

I wear a blacked out Luminox. 200m waterproof and looks great...imo.

I like the G-Shock also, but the timex tactic DGL looks pretty sweet as do some of the timex ironman watches. I worked with a guy at the fire department who only wears Invicta. He was a total pompous ass who lies about his military service, I could go on but I wont. Just for that reason I dont like Invicta.
