Split Case

Ruger New Model Six 17 HMR

I had two split cases out of about 30 rounds.

Ammo is Hornady 17hmr vmax. I have never had this problem before and did not feel anything different when I was shooting.

Any ideas why all of a sudden I have two split cases? Could it just be a bad box of ammo?

Sounds as if you've gotten some brass that was not properly annealed. I'd think about contacting Hornady customer Service dept. and see what they have to offer.

Well I shot the rest of the box plus another box and had no problems. Just seemed odd to me since I have never had this problem before.

I did write Hornady and have not heard back from them yet.
