I recall when the 19x came out, and the g45... how so many raved... great duty pistol deminsions.. and I won’t disagree. I own both.
After messing around with my Springfield XD, I just happened to look over at the 19x and thought, man, they are about the same size!

Basically the same width and the xd is .07” taller, top to bottom......

All this time, we had the xd, the perfect size gun!! And all these LE departments have been waiting on Glock to make it!

hmmmmmmm

I have an XDM as my nightstand gun. Never had an issue with it. Carry a G-19 most of the time. They are very similar Though the XDM is bigger.

wait, are you saying glock only "innovates" when they find out somebody else is already doing something well, then they adopt the least they can and advertise how they've revolutionized things?
Well I'm shocked...

Never understood why the xd/xdm’s don’t get more love....we’ve never had any issues with ours either.
I enjoy my XD45.
The gripes I hear in no particular order: grip safety, long mushy trigger, long reset, Croatia.
They have real issues with the roll pin breakage and swc feeding (I think the m solved this) but you rarely hear of those.

Had the original xd before Springfield acquired them. It was called a hs2000. Everybody called it a wannabe glock. It worked and worked and i mistreated it on purpose just to see and it kept on working. I was truly impressed with the beating that gun took. It was $250 new in the box. Fastforward a few years and I see a gun mag on the shelf at walmart with "Springfield's new glock killer". It was the exact same gun only now it came with Springfield badging and the price tag was bumped up to mid $400's. I never got another one after that, but I will always remember that hs2000 for how tough it was for a 250$ new in box pistol.

Cool, ya learn something new every day. Now i'm even more comfortable with the Croatian Hellcat.
"The HS 2000 is manufactured by the HS Product company (formerly IM Metal). It was adopted by the Croatian armed forces and police in 1999. Currently it is a standard issue sidearm. The HS 2000 has been exported to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dominican Republic, Indonesia, Iraq, Macedonia, Malaysia, and Thailand. Furthermore this Croatian pistol is license produced in the USA by Springfield Armory". Source- http://www.military-today.com/firearms/hs_2000.htm

I've shot quite a few Glock pieces. They must he incredible at marketing/positioning. I've never understood all the hype surrounding those guns. They're not bad. But they're not amazing either.

The XD hangs with it in my view. But I've never owned, or put 1,000 round through, either one.

I’ve used XD(m) for 3-Gun comps fir as long as they’ve been out. 8 years? Not a single issue. On the original XD(m), I did swap the trigger for a Powder River, but the newer one I picked up last year did not need it.

there's a book out on their history. they hired strippers as reps and took a bunch of cop brass to special events. also, they basically gave the guns away on trade-in for a department's old metal guns they could sell off later.

I forgot about Springfield making that style. When the 19x came out I kept thinking it’s the same thing as my FNS9.

I own a variety of polymer handguns. XD series catches a lot of crap because people started making fun of the grip zone and other marketing mistakes. I have about 10k rounds through an XDm before I started chasing something better and I have tried them all before I realized what I needed was to practice more to get better

I almost bought a Croatian HS2000, before Springfield rebranded them. I was actually impressed and sorta liked the mixed Glock/1911 features. Went back and it was gone.

Glock is about 1/4" shorter. Ruger is significantly thinner.

The first polymer gun I bought was a 4.5” XDm .40. Loved the gun, didn’t like .40 so traded it for .45ACP version with Trijicon night sights. 13+1 rnds of .45ACP and a TLR-1, it has been my nightstand gun ever since. I recently acquired the 3.8” as a companion piece to carry. Those two are absolutely the most natural pointing handguns I own. Had a XDs in .45 but it went to a family member that needed it more. Mrs. Bassic carries the XDs in 9mm.
