Showing my humble little 5R Rem 700 some love with some upgraded new hardware . I have a Badger Ordnance 20moa steel scope mount on the way but can't decide on rings.

Currently considering this set of Spuhr rings to go with the new mount (might have been tempted to spend the $$ on one of their one piece mounts had I run across them before ordering the new BO mount.)

And these Badger Ordnance rings that were my original choice:

My original plan was to also buy a set of 30mm to 1" scope bushings to go with them so I could use my current scope, for now, but as Spuhr doesn't offer that option it admittedly has me wanting to replace the old scope sooner than later.

Both are certainly more than a .308 bolt gun needs recoil wise, but I like the look of both (minus the knobs of the BO) and Vortex doesn't offer a 6 screw PMR ring set.

Thoughts? Anything else out there worth consideration?

I had a Spuhr 1-pc mount on one of my 700 builds. Have a set of Seekins rings now and honestly, I’ll never pay more than the Seekins rings cost for a set ever again. They work just as well for bench or field shooting, minus the built-in level.

I have Spuhr IDSM on my Sig SSG 3000 and HK MR762, best mount I've ever had experience with, ever. I like the integrated wedge that helps remove cant from the scope, so I don't have to wonder if I got it right with attempting to level the optic otherwise.

I liked the mounts so much that I actually bought their 1-piece hunting mount for my new long distance big game rifle as well as their picatinny base. Mile High Shooting just added them to their line up under the Hunter series. Can't go wrong with Spuhr if you have the $$$, plus they look great and give you a solid platform for mounting other accessories directly to the mount.

Well I had to rein in my wants a bit after some scope shopping....decided to stick with my original choice of Badger Ordnance rings only to discover a MASSIVE shortage/backorder nightmare. After a couple hours of searching I honestly believe I just bought the last available in-stock set on the interwebz! Now for my least favorite part...the wait.

I got my Spuhr hunter mount in last night and it was about one millimeter too short in the middle. Did not account for that. So back to the vendor for the next size up.

Ah man, that would drive me nuts. I may regret not having gone with the tall mounts myself, but I can get away with a lot with the vx-l Leupold I’m using now.
