Square body durability test on you tube.

I sold my 1975 3/4 ton that had a 454 , 400 trans with factory 4;10 gears , with A/c about 6 months ago for the best price I could get which was $2500.
😔😟😫😩 I most definitely would have been interested. I don’t remember seeing it listed here.

Every time I look for one it’s $5k+ or more. I saw one the other day for $15k. For a 50 year old truck that’s in not the best shape. No thank you.

I get cranky watching that ...... That was a perfectly good truck before he destroyed it.

By the time I get my 82 running and driving with all the issues worked out I will probably have 10 grand in it. It is a regular cab short bed that I swapped a 454 in and it will still be dented and full of rust.
Still need lower ball joints , control arm bushings, and idler arm before I can align it. Radiator leaks, fan clutch needs replacing, and the starter doesn't want to fully disengage at times.
Haven't swapped in the limited slip and 3.42 gears yet either.

That makes me sad. I’ve been wanting a square body but can’t afford what people are asking 🥺
Its hard to find a nice one that does not cost a fortune. The problem is that they didnt have any sort of rust proofing or even treated metal back then so they started to rust about 6 months after they were new. Luckily, if the frame is still good you can find repo steel parts easily they are pretty easy to work on. I bought this one a real real long time ago to tow race cars down there in Florida. With the big block it got 11 MPG on the highway if you were towing or not. After I moved to NC back in 98, the truck just got used a few times a year to run to Lowes for Lumber. Finally ,it just had to so I put it up on Market place and I fielded hundreds of questions. The most common was, " does it have any rust"? I would answer with this, " If this was a 1975 rust free Chev pickup I would be asking $15000 , not $2500."

1973 was the first year for that body and they started rusting in the showroom. I had a '76 Silverado, short bed, 4X4. Sucked down gas like crazy and rode like a buckboard.

I've had 3?, my '87 3500 crew cab was my favorite, it was free, went everywhere pulled more stuck rigs than I care to count, should've kept it. They look good, they're pretty simple, and they usually worked, but they had problems. Currently have a friend's long bed step side sitting in my yard, I think it's rust free, it's been sort of restored.

I've had 5, 6 if you count the Suburban. My favorite was my '85 1/2 ton. Pulled it out of the woods at some guys house in Maine and gave $500 for it. I pulled a 18 wheeler up a snowy hill with that truck.
