In the past 3 days the darn critters have denuded my pecan tree and dug up half the potted plants on my patio to "save" their harvest.

Those of you who may be in suburban environs with "discharge of firearms" laws, how do you controls these rodents?

I walked out today with airsoft in hand, blasted one of the little varmits right in the head and he sat there and looked at me. Dang?!

I use a pellet gun even though it’s not kosher, and I use a havahart trap for possums. But I only step in for problem critters. Mostly I let the hawks and owls feast.

Pellet rifle?

Trap, sling shot, suppressed .22 or .22 shorts and do it from concealment?

CB shorts. The whack of the bullet hitting them is louder than the report from the rifle

Now that you mention it...
I had no less than 8-9 tree rats in my yard in the spring, Not a sign of them the last month.
Wonder where they went. And I hope they come back.

When they start building up a furry army I put a suppressed 22 by the toilet in the bathroom that the window faces the back yard.

Every time I go I slide the window open and pop a couple. Throw them in the trash can.

There's a constant army of them out in the back yard .... they're annoying but since I put the cone on the bird feeder to prevent the from stealing all the food, quiet has reigned .

I have a Marlin 60. Too late for this season but, perhaps I'll try the shorts next time. (Shot from inside, through the bedroom window, of course.)
...or lying in bed shooting through a window screen is how the neighbor kids used to do it.

My retired mother has be thinning the squirrels all summer with her air rifle. I've created a monster, so my stepfather says.

something like this -unless you have all day to sit and watch with a pellet gun

or this

This pipe trap is good but all that you need is a large rat trap . It is a mouse trap, only larger. A six penny nail , to nail it to a tree, and a little peanut butter smeared on the bait pan. I have been using this method for years to keep squirrels out of my pecan trees. It works.

Just read a story from the Civil War. There was an officer who tried hard to obey the commandment: "Thought shall not kill." When it came time to order his men to fire upon the enemy he would yell, "Squirrel!" Apparently that kept him right with God in his eyes.
