So I have a Ruger SR22 with a 4.5 inch barrel, and I can't for the life of me find a threaded barrel for this thing anywhere.

With that in mind, why couldn't I have the last 0.5inch of the standard barrel turned down, and then use a bushing that extends past the slide and is threaded on the end, and held on to the barrel via a set screw. Would this work? Is this a valid Option, or cost prohibitive?

They've been out of stock for some time.
Sadly true. I was able to get one from the most recent production run and I am glad I did. Hopefully they will make one last run. They do keep their website active so that is a thing, and, their email responsiveness is really great.

Twin Tech are modest in their written statements about the improvement in quality over the OEM barrel. It's significant.

The SR22 in 4.5" is sorta older and uncommon, and the Taurus TX22 has picked up a lot of the market ... it's nice, but I am not as big a fan as many. Didn't care for the TX22 factory sights, the trigger, or the plastic magazines. But it's newer and maybe the SR22 is seen as being on the way out.

On the Ruger SR22 with the new Tandemkross 'squared' compensator (using the Twin Tech threaded aftermarket barrel), the SR22 is perfectly balanced. Then, add the upgraded magazine 'green' springs and any feed issues disappear.

Have a link?
I usually don’t provide them especially when I read it months ago. Figure it’s your project, it’s your time not mine. Kinda like the guy in the store telling you to go to aisle 7 when you ask where something is. They usually don’t say here let me go get it for you.

If you don't wanna get involved then why did you even open your mouth?-
On NC Gun Owners a guy did a SR22 project. I think he got the barrel threaded. Might at least be worth a look.

No it's not even kinda like that at all.

Quite often they do in fact take you to where the item is located.

Oh yeah you're a flaming checkered flag winner right off the bat aren't you? You keep up with your snarly-ass rope tricks and the members of this forum will end up hanging you with it. NCGO is a lot softer than we are and they won't put up with that crap either. Could be wrong though, I've only been a member over there since 2010...

hope that works ... you have to read the whole thread to get the needed information
^This is how it's done. You could have done this or politely bowed out but you instead chose to be a condescending jerk to a supporting member. And if you think I'm being hard wait until you take your attitude into general population here. They'll rip you apart.

Yeah, clue me in, too. Theres 2 SR22s in my house
Tandemkross sells the 'green spring' upgrades for the factory SR22 magazines.

https://www.tandemkross.com/green-springs-magazine-springs-for-ruger-sr22.html

These are inexpensive and, at least for me, helped eliminate some nagging occasional mis-feeds. The springs are color coded green, helping to identify which magazines have them, vs the OEM springs. Of course, the ideal way to go is replace them in all the mags you have.

The springs are relatively easy to swap out, if you are in any way handy. There's an instructional video available from the vendor website.

Yeah it's my time not yours but here you are on my forum post offering your help initially and then returning with some smartass comment. I bet you're a real fun guy to have at parties. Based on your freebie account here you're probably the guy at parties that doesn't bring his own drinks.

Bought the same adapter from hughes precision for +/-25 bucks today, once it gets here I'll touch base with the machine shop the guy used in the post from NCGO and I suppose make a trip out there one day soon. I'll post pictures. I'll be using this mainly as a dispatch gun during trapping season so I'll pretty much just leave the adapter in place indefinitely.

I thought I’d get that type of response. I did help. Pushed you in the right direction. You found something that might help you further. Your welcome. Good luck with your project.
