Is garbage.

This train wreck is just going to keep piling up on it's self. The people in charge of this mess clearly don't really know anything about Star Trek, Picard, or anything else besides "WE NEED MORE INTRIGUE!"

SPIES!
SECRET ANCIENT ROMULAN HE-MAN ANDROID HATERS CLUB!
EDGY ADMIRAL DROPS F-BOMB!
PEOPLE USING MODERN SLANG!
BOOM BOOM JOHN WAYNE COWBOY FIGHTING ACTION SCENE!

What made the old series so comfortable and likeable was the interaction between the crew; the ability to tell numerous stories from numerous points of view.
It was the hopeful nature of a possible future where mankind did better it's self.
That's not what this is.

RIP Star Trek. I thought after Discovery, maybe CBS would wise up, but I see they're doubling down.

I'm sorry Star Wars fans, I now understand your pain.

I'm a big Trek fan. I love the original series, and all of the 90's spinoff shows. I watched 2-3 episodes of discovery, and couldn't get into it. Sounds like Picard is going to be the same way.

And that answers that question. Save my money..
If you have Roku or something similar, Pluto TV, which is free, has the first episode playing occasionally on their Scifi channel.

I cancelled my free 7 day subscription. I thought it was a story we have seen a thousand times, "the robot that doesn't know it's a robot story." I want more original characters and it looks like the focus will be on the new Millennials.

I think this pretty much sums things up.

What I can’t understand is how Picard got picked up for a second season before the first season even aired?

JJ Abrams killed Star Trek, and he had a hand in killing Star Wars...

Hmm, I saw the first episode and liked it.

Bad supervisors are abundant, problem solvers not so much.

wtf is star trek shorts and why is it terrible?
Did they just try to copy The Orville? It's sad that The Orville is the best Star Trek there has been in years... and that Star Trek can't even make a decent copy of their copy.

I was goign to start a Picard thread but i searched first. You guys are wrong Picard is very good. I like it. Now, i don't profess to be a die hard Trekky but i did watch Next Generation back in the day. I thought the special effects and the plot was great. After three episodes i switched over to the Discovery series and it was nicht gut. They were trying WAY to hard to bring up every current requirement to be inclusive. But Picard? i thought it was good.

Picard is a bit slow to start but it is getting a better. There is a huge time gap which sort of had to be filled in. There is a lot of good continuity in the format and in some of the shots, locations and continuing plot points. I am interested to see where it is going to go. I am happy that they are further exploring what it means to be human. With the new synthetics, Data, the Borg cube, reclaimed Borgs like 7 of 9 etc... It is really an extension of Descartes cogito ergo sum, I think therfore I am. That is still a fundamental human question. #doandroidsdreamofelecticsheep

I don't love it yet but I didn't love the first season of Next Gen at first. Only after the series had matured did I return to watch it and enjoy it. Today's episode took a somewhat predictable turn.

I think they renewed it because they were already seeing a up tick in subscriptions as they move closer to the release date. The series has a lot of buzz. They also need to lock down Stewart for the project. It was hard to get him back into the Captains chair and leaving it hanging could have been a problem. IMHO.

And before he's too old to do much of anything anymore. It's weird to think Shatner's only got ten years on him.

Haven't and don't plan to watch any of this, but I might change that resolve were Q to appear (though it would be a shame to see a "woke" version of Q).

I'm thoroughly enjoying it. Maybe I'm just blind to all of this wokeness you all seem to see everywhere or maybe I'm just not looking to be offended as much.

I' not seeing all that much "wokeness", just cringey junk like using modern slang, vaping, that chick constantly calling Picard "JL", the overall tone of the show.
The fact that they just about retcon pretty much everything from the old series to make this shiny new series that has none of the idealism of the previous series. Even DS9, which largely took place during a bitter war held on to that sense of optimism.
This series feels more like the movies. And the movies sucked.

Then why are you still watching?

Episode #8 #ZeframCochranemoment #Admonition

It is getting good and yes they are still dropping F bombs.

Despite this depiction, I’m thinking it might be ok. Just started episode 2. We’ll see…

I just watched the first 3 episodes and have enjoyed it.

Interesting story line. I didn’t go in expecting red shirts to get smoked on every episode.

I kind of liked it. It wasn't any worse than any other ST franchise. I just hope they get season two wrapped up before Patrick Stewart kicks, he's getting old.

Jeebus. Wil Wheaton is 50? That makes me feel young.

I knew something along that line would be your reply! I was just pokin' ya.

Didn't her husband get or try to have her get her kink on?

So I’ve been down with the rona so this has been keeping me occupied.

First season was good. I’m into the second season now and they’re doing the old original Star Trek time travel to the past to undo one thing that Q messed up because whatever he did made the present a totalitarian nightmare.

They’re in 2024 in LA. Sadly these episodes are very liberal in their portrayal of our current times. ICE is raiding clinics…..in LA…..and beating up illegals before roughly arresting them, the Hollywood hills are on fire etc etc.

I’m starting to think the horrible change to the future is something like Trump winning reelection in 2024 or some such nonsense.
