Just watched the Episode IX panel at Star Wars Celebration. It ended with the first teaser trailer.

I was not a fan of several aspects of Episode 8.

However, I will go see this one to see if they can redeem themselves, and it is the last one for the Skywalker saga.
 
dont hold your breath - kathleen kennedy is still over this one and will no doubt ruin it with her manhating and we-dont-care-what 40 year old fans want mentality.

im waiting to hear how we will see our first trangingered jedi and learn how the diverse band of heroes must fight to block the construction of the empires greatest threat yet - the Death Wall.
 
I want to be excited...I really do. Star Wars was such a huge part of my geek youth. But since the new movies get made they keep reminding me of being in a bad relationship...I want to love it, because I want it to be like it used to be...but then they just keep doing stupid things...the SJW crap, the adding cute stuff just for giggles, the moronic decisions being made by characters, other characters being introduced who are crap...

Of course, I'll get excited when it comes out...Ill go watch it...and I will probably be 80% disappointed.
 
As @smithnwesley so eloquently described it, I hope they got a good talking to in the principal's office about "cutting that sh!t out" with all the political activeness. Just get back to the fun story. I'm willing to forget about #8 and it's "look at us, girls can do things, too" story.

Show me Poe Dameron flying like a badass in an epic space battle, Daisy doing whatever, and the black dude coming to terms with his previous doings, and I can be happy with it.

Sadly, what we'll likely get is a Billy D. Williams "sex" scene with the Falcon's hyperdrive unit while Princess Too-Much-Cocaine's CGI self chides him about flexing his manhood over/into a device which desires to remain gender-neutral.
 
I have been a fan since my dad took me to see the original way back when I was a kid..... that being said, I’ll wait for this one to come out on video. 7 was mediocre, 8 just plain sucked.
 
unfortunately we now live in bizarro world where up is down, right is wrong and rabid sw fans are more wary than excited about a new movie.

when sales dont meet expectations they will just attribute it to "star wars fatigue" - meanwhile marvel keeps knocking it out of the park with nearly every release, every few months.

maybe theres a reason these stories had fans to begin with. they need to stay true to what made them popular to begin with and leave their politics and warped sensibilities out of the storyline.

I don’t know what a slide of shite is, must be one of those terms you kids use these days. But Rogue One was excellent. The rest of the new ones, I agree they were not great, and TLJ was just plain horrible.

FWIW...according to JJ during the panel today, there is no CGI Princess. They obviously weren’t going to recast her, and didn’t want to use CGI. There were enough scenes from TFW & TLJ left on the cutting room floor that they were able write scenes that used them. Said it was really weird to go through the whole process because it really seemed like she was there.

The new movies are great, they've shown just how awesome lucas really is/was. Now if he'd just release the original trilogy in its original theatrical format, I'd have no beef with him.

Agreed. My love of Star Wars changed to mild disgust a while back. The only movies that are any good are the standalone stuff these days.

Mauls saber got cut in half, could be a repair put that hinge in. But I was kidding about it being his exact saber. To quick and short to make any real guess.

Notice it has ragged edges. Apparently that's caused by using a damaged/cracked kyber crystal, like knockoff Vader/Ben Solo does. They blew up hers at the end of TLJ, so maybe she took reused the broken crystal from her TLJ saber, they show a couple of clear shots of the broken crystal during her yabbering on post fight with Kylo Solo.

I'm sure Harrison Ford was glad to be away from the series, I was ok with it.

And yeah Crymo' Ren is a pretty millennial baddy.

Lucas got lucky with Star Wars. He was too busy getting divorced during Empire and it was the best of the entire cannon IMHO. Jedi was a POS. He then made the prequels were were trash. JJ Abrams did a very JJ Abrams job of the Force Awakens and Rian Johnson should be brought into a public square and flogged for the Last Jedi. I am not holding out any real hope for the Rise of Skywalker but I am a glutton for punishment so I of course will go see it.

I agree with others that of the recent films Rouge One is the only good film. I wish Disney had not neutered. The original cut was much darker.
 
Screw it, I know I will be disappointed as I was in the last one but I’m in!
 
Well they killed off the purple haired SJW “admiral” who looked like she was letting a little pee out with every decision. Ol’ cocaine lips is dead but they’re gonna CGI her in, so her involvement will likely be limited. All that’s left is Rey and Poe. It’s time for some good ol’ fashioned Poe leadership nd bad ass flying to save the day.

I can wish, can’t I?

Rey is probably going to end up possessed by Palpatine and Kylo gets redeemed by snapping her out of it.
