Hey all. My college buds and I are doing the yearly camping trip this fall and I'm looking for recommendations for a park to get a cabin in. We're not super picky, we've done Uwharrie, Hanging rock, Fairy Stone (insert joke here). Looking for something with some bike trails, maybe streams or lakes or waterfalls, hiking. Pet friendly a plus.

Two of us are in CLT and another in kinda midsouthern VA. I appreciate any leads.

The Peaks of Otter park a little outside Bedford Va is nice. Haven't been there in many years so not sure of its status now, but there are several trails, a creek and pond nearby, it's right on the Blue Ridge Pkwy, and short trip to other trails.

Black Mountain, bottom of Mt. Michael, might be a place to look at.
There's was dirt road that went up to the Blue Ridge Parkway, but that was many years ago not sure it's still dirt.

yes, but it's been a while since Hungry Mother.
good place for kids/families.

swiftcurrent motor inn at glacier np, hikers paradise. the trail to grinnell glacier is just up the road from where you'd stay. waterfalls, scenic views, it has it all!

Grayson Highlands.
Dupont National....

I dont remember seeing any bikes at either though.

Does it have to be local?

We went out to the PacNW last year and stayed at Lake Crescent in the Olympic National Park in a cabin. Here was our view straight out the front door:

Last I looked at Southwest Airline tickets, you can get round trip CLT to SEA for like $150. Add a rental car and groceries. The cabin was like $200/night.

1 hour from the Pacific Coast. 45 min to Hurricane Ridge. Hiking, camping, canoeing, biking rentals, incredible scenery.

Then we went to Mt. Rainier and stayed at a cabin at the entrance to the park since the Paradise Inn was booked. Another awesome place.

Take advantage of the COVID prices. Places are hurting for business, including airlines.

I had lunch there on a trip once, really nice.

Another vote for Black Mtn

Cool atmosphere, tons of outside activities (mtn biking, hiking, etc), close to bunch of parks.
