Stay in place order

clemmons just issued an order

Today Mayor John Wait signed a second State of Emergency and issued restrictions requiring residents to shelter in place. The order will take effect on Friday, March 27, 2020, at 5:00 p.m., and will remain in effect until 5:00 p.m., Thursday, April 16, 2020, or until modified or rescinded. The emergency proclamation says that:

1. All Clemmons residents must not travel or carry on any business except as allowed in the proclamation;

2. All public and private gatherings of more than 10 people are prohibited (residents of households excepted);

3. Residents may engage in essential activities, like shopping for groceries or household items, picking up take-out food from restaurants, engaging in outdoor activities, taking care of others, or working as permitted in the proclamation;

4. If residents do any of these essential activities, among others outlined in the order, they must maintain a distance of at least six feet from other individuals as much as possible;

5. Essential businesses should continue to operate, and they must comply as much as possible with social distancing requirements (six feet of separation);

6. Non-essential businesses may also continue to operate, but they must do so by complying with social distancing requirements and keep gatherings to ten people or less;

7. Non-essential entry into the Village is discouraged, but not prohibited; and

8. Restrictive precautions and screenings for employees at nursing home and elder care facilities is encouraged but not required.

If residents and businesses can comply with these restrictions before this Friday, they are strongly urged to do so. Given the confirmation of community spread in Forsyth County, and the inability to conduct widespread testing, sheltering in place is the best option to prevent spread of the virus.

Mayor Wait consulted extensively with local health officials from Novant, local leaders and elected officials, and staff before drafting and signing the proclamation. It is hoped that this order will prevent local healthcare providers from being overwhelmed in the event of an outbreak of COVID-19 in or near Clemmons, especially when combined with the new restrictions going into effect today from Governor Cooper. Mayor Wait has been and will continue to communicate and work with neighboring municipalities, Forsyth County, and the State to combat this emergency.

The Governor has assured local leaders that the State’s supply lines for food and essential household items are strong. Clemmons residents should not to overbuy or hoard food and household items. The proclamation will be constantly evaluated and reviewed during the next few weeks based on the latest news and updates.

No one is going to be rounding up people and tossing them in cells. The purpose of the order is to break up crowds and stop large gatherings that could spread the virus.

You can still go out to buy the things you need. You can still visit family members and friends that need assistance or care. You can't play basketball on a public court, or hang out in a crowded nightclub. Its not the end of the world yet. :D

Durham Mayor just ordered a stay in place order for the city of Durham effective Thursday @ 6 pm thru April 30th. Said Durham Police will enforce it
What are LEO’s suppose to do? Stop everyone in a private passenger vehicle, walking down the sidewalk, etc and ask them the why, where, what for type questions? They’ll not have time to respond when a crime occurs ...

Now for real LEO’s might tell people to move along or go home if they see something blatantly obvious but that’s about it. This is pretty much a case of a political idiot wanting to flap their lips for an hour making out like they are so damn important and then steps all over his “subjects” with this type bovine caca instead of being a true leader. Truthfully the greatest majority of people are already under self imposed “stay-at-home” and don’t need his crap.

Move out of Durham in 1998 ,never regretted doing so .Turned into a cesspool of crime .Unfortunatly I still have to go there for my job.

Same... Boss says we are staying open until they shut us down on account that we make labels for the food, meds, and sanitizer everyone is so desperately seeking.

Calm yourself and your rational logic!

Yep. Can't have little Mr. I Have No Self Value getting out-maneuvered by cities trying to prove they're more liberal than he is.
Now that they have passed a bill to strip the people of more money, the Rona will die off within a week.

It can, but a little common sense comes into play. Don't stand closer to people than you have to, make your trips quick, and get everything you need with as few trips as possible. Wash your hands. Minimize contact. Do the things that you need to do, but lets all agree to give up on some of the "want to do's" for now.

I think everyone understands that you cannot completely stop the spread of the virus unless you put a soldier on every corner with shoot-to-kill orders. The whole idea is to slow it down as much as possible so doctors and hospitals can stay ahead of it. If everyone had the same amount of common sense, we wouldn't need .gov to give orders like this.

The local news says Wake county is announcing tomorrow. Not sure if gun shops are included.

I am not sure what, exactly, they will enforce. The number of business that remain open is pretty big. So they will bust up a crowd of 11?

Plus, police aren’t being dispatched by 911 for most stuff now.

I guess they intend to just drive around and look for groups of 11 people.

I was reading there is nothing written in to NC law around these stay at home orders. Honestly I don’t want to be around groups of people anyway but if you go to a park that is closed, they can tell you to leave (rightfully so) by a group of people on a persons driveway? Nothing they can do.

Meh.

Not that I'm traveling anywhere, but we've been told at work our jobs are essential and if we're stopped anywhere, show them our CAC.

I printed that government email out (among others) that reinforce this.

If local/state authorities want to get into a p*ssing contest with Uncle Sam on this, I'll be happy to sit back and watch the fun. It'll at least be entertaining.

But if the various levels of government think they can just extend this quarantine indefinitely willy-nilly, they'll have a REAL state of emergency on their hands before long.

The purpose of this quarantine is to "flatten the curve" and allow sufficient time for adequate resources to be accumulated and brought to bear on this. It's NOT supposed to end up the be-all and end-all solution, to be invoked until the last case disappears off the face of the planet.

Haha at these democratic controlled cities with their terrorist store looting idiots. Do they think they can tell who gets traveling papers and who doesn’t. What’s these boys gonna do? Stop every car to check to see if they are grocery shopping, going to the doctor, or heading to the hospital for a shift. Damn near outrageous.

Go about your business keeping yourself safe from China Man Flu and travel where you need to go. Damn, there ain’t nothin open anyway. Have they closed the strip clubs. I haven’t seen it on any list. Certainly it’s an essential. How them hoes gonna go to law school with out the rain.

It seems Wake has thrown down with their version of the order effective tomorrow, details unknown. OK, I'm pissed but frankly so many wankers have not paid any attention to distancing that I guess you have to hit them with a lead pipe before they sit up.

me neither. after reading the verbiage from some that do exist, it really doesn't change much for Jane and Joe blow. May impact some remaining businesses, but its otherwise just changing the name of what is already in place at state level from what I can tell. Can still go to the stores for food and medical. can still go outside to get exercise, go on 'nature walks' or whatever.

We have been doing our house/neighborhood hunting, and, so long as it doesn't impact through-travel will not really impact our behavior much. If there is a push to 'enforce' and I got pulled over, id be in the quagmire of being truthful vs just saying, "uhhh grocery store" and queuing my daughter to fake sneeze. The truth being not explicitly on any inclusion or exclusion list, but in reality puts us in contact with zero people other than said officer (as opposed to grocery store full of people and molested products).

I can tell you one thing. If I want to ride my motorcycle to nowhere in particular, that's gonna happen.

this is essentially what we do, and is basically the next safest thing you can do to remaining inside your dwelling. Depending on your particular areas crime stats, and the significant reduction of other cars on the road substantially reducing accident risk, it may actually be even safer, statistically anyway. Im going ahead and interpreting this analogous to castle doctrine, "vehicles apply" to 'sheltering in place'.

Nah. The mayor said realistically that LEOs would only intervene in repeated/egregious situations. And given how many other crimes go unenforced, I have no reason to doubt that.

They won’t do anything to enforce these things against people, they’ll close some businesses. Heck if they aren’t gonna stop a mob from rioting I don’t see them going hands on for 11 guys standing outside the starbucks.

Soooo. NY might be getting sporty:

What if you live in a van? Lots of people do these days... What about bums?

They can't do shite to enforce this stuff...

They ain’t going to shoot a damn sole or even get rough with someone. If they do there will be anarchy in the streets like it’s the 1960s. If they try tough love they better shutdown the internet. I can see a viral video now of someone standing g in front of a tank begging it to run over them. I’m not calling for disobedience but let’s be real folks. This sis not quite yet a communist nation. At least not until Bernie says it is.

I think somebody else said it here yesterday, “How does a homeless person stay home?"
