Stay in place order

Charlotte says it doesn't apply to the homeless. They are just asking them to seek shelter and stay there.

These "stay in place" orders remind me eerily of the Twilight Zone Episode Nick of Time and the trapped couple towards the end.

"Do you think we might be able to leave (Ridgeview) today?"

"Is there any way out? Any way at all?"

I'm retired, so my life may just be dull and boring but ...

I read my county's new stay-home order carefully today and there is not a single thing that I actually did last week that I cannot do next week.
I also am retired - however I could go to the gun store last week but not after 1700 today. So, there is a pretty big that.

Boss just handed me my "Papers". I thanked him and filed it. He look perplexed and asked how I was getting to work without them. I said "Same way I got here today, see you in the morning".

I can tell you one thing. If I want to ride my motorcycle to nowhere in particular, that's gonna happen.
I, for one, am NOT going to be doing that...
I put the battery charger on the bike, left it overnight - NOTHING. This battery is toast on the 1125R. Bummer, that's a hundred bucks I'll be spending soon.
And with the weekend weather, Im not stoked.

Oh, our county issued our 'papers' today...digitally.
And we've been told to keep our ID badges with us.
Man, I keep that thing at work, I never bring it home.
Not too concerned at all.

Work at NCSU so educational facility is exempt for now. Gotta keep the computer and server farm running plus the cooperative extension that supports the farmer along with the NCSU dairy farm.

I just went to the Randolph County Sheriff's office this morning to pick up my CHP considering the elevated possibility of 1D10T interaction. I wanted it in my hand, just in case!

I was told they have over 400 CHPs to hand out today and they were using the Mobile Command Center RV so people did not need to go in the building. They have suspended permit applications right now, I was unaware of that too.

We are not under a "stay at home" order here in Randolph but they are all around us. I don't really want to go anywhere anyway.

$100 for a motocycle battery? Is it made from Platinum?

I use the $25 Lead Acid gel UPS batteries that are all over Ebay, or scour the electronics pile at the recycling center for free ones. Some are 25AH which will start any motocycle engine with ease.

$100 bucks is cheap for a motorcycle battery. Hell, I get mine on the NAPA employee discount and they are still $80+. The last time I got one from the Honda dealer it was $234.

You should hear my employees. When are we getting passes so we can get to and from work? I have the same answer, "show me where I can get these passes and I'll get them". Then it's, my brothers cousin aunt uncle's company made passes for them to keep in their car. "How does that hold any weight if anyone can just make up passes on their own?" Then I get dumbfounded looks. "See you on Monday if you have a legitimate problem getting to work and not some made up BS call me then."

My boss said she heard from her boss that Cooper may be planning state-wide shutdown, but I have not heard anything.

But what does that mean and how will it be enforced? So far every city that is "shut down" is only shut down for the people who will blindly follow orders as they wait for their "free money".

Exactly what I was thinking. The one my boss gave me was just something typed on company letterhead saying to whom it may concern the holder of this piece of paper works here. Didn't even have my name on it so how was it in any way verifiable?

They need to be printing out some Ron Swanson permits.

I don't know...

At this stage of the game, it won't carry much water. Americans are tiring quickly of these stay at home mantras, good luck to Cooper on that.

You are right...

Well, we finally have an answer to the most asked question in NC for the past few week.

The Governor to issue a stay in place order at his press conference at 4pm. The order to take effect on Monday at 5pm and last for 30 days.

If so, Trump made Cooper do it!

If Trump was not going to announce new federal guidelines calling for county-by-county determinations, Cooper would not need to belatedly try to shut down the entire state for a month.

If true, that is really going to suck and I'm not good at embracing the suck.

So, being totally honest: To get ahead of this, we have to stay away from people. We do. Not only does it work, it's the only thing that works. BUT: I do not think .gov intervention or mandates should be the way to do it.
Totally agree and 95% of people are smart enough to know this. It’s the idiots that have to go here or there “just because” or the ones who think they won’t get sick and don’t give a crap that are out there. They are the ones who need to be told because they don’t have the sense or care to listen to medical personnel or scientists about it.

Word on the street is that it will be announced at 4:00 PM Today. Sen Jeff Jackson posted this on twitter and then it was removed.

There are those who won't go along with this and will rebel just because. The list of critical exemptions is also big enough to drive a truck through it. As I've said before, I see the real value of these declarations being that it will move some that are on the fence onto the side of doing the right thing because it now has a sense of legitimacy behind it from someone that they see as an "authority".

Word has been buzzing in the emergency management community on this since Monday. It just took Cooper longer than some thought. That it would be done was a foregone conclusion, though.

So... If I want to go to the outdoor range by myself in my car by myself to a pistol bay by myself,... What's the problem?
Look man, this whole damn thing ain't designed to protect you, its to protect the virus.
