Stingray knocked up by a shark?

Interesting article.

Guess the scientist at the shark lab may not have heard of parthenogenesis (think asexual reproduction). It’s basically last-ditch survival strategy for some species in less-than-favorable living conditions. This has been known to happen in some bugs, reptiles, and aquatic species.

Also guessing the bite marks could potentially be related to the food chain, since rays are a prominent diet component of variety of shark species.

Nonetheless, it will be interesting to see how it plays out.

It's possible we're just not getting all the details on this. They claim they have no male rays, but maybe they had one with green hair, body odor and pronouns that impregnated this one. 😃
or one of the females did a bit of that transition thing and now they do have a male, or at least had a male temporarily.

They’re just a couple blocks from my office, but I’ve never gone in. It’s a small, storefront type space. They do have a pretty good rep with the homeschool crowd.
