In the last three weeks a friend has had two slides, that were headed to Lone Wolf Distributors, stolen somewhere in route by or from USPS. Both were being sent for slide milling to mount a delta point.

The first was a G35, Gen4 slide. Package arrived at Lone Wolf with nothing in it and had obviously been torn open. The second was a G22, Gen3 slide. After the first one went "missing", the second was insured for $5k so it had to be signed for at Lone Wolf. They signed for it but, OOPS! nothing in the box. Again, obviously torn open. Both had been completely stripped of everything except the channel liner before shipping in case you see one for sale.

Now it's a finger pointing between USPS and LW. Both are saying 'not my problem'. Could have happened anywhere between the post office in Sanford and Lone Wolf's dock. Beware if you're considering shipping gun parts from or two these points. Insuring the package is no guarantee when the receiver is not looking at things before the "sign" for them.

Somebody knows what to look for on the shipping labels. I'm curious how were the items packaged?

That would make my blood boil.

I wonder how you can set up a sting. Maybe put another in there and hide a GPS tracker along with police cooperation. Never mind, I’m just dreaming of sweet justice.

On the Lone Wolf end ... that PO’s workers know way more about what a business does so stuff coming in and going out of said business is more at risk especially when the packages are sorted and piled up for delivery to LW. On your friend’s end the PO’s worker might catch a name but not near as easy as on LW’s.

That sucks for sure. I’ve got a shipment from brownells that’s been showing out for delivery since the 12 with no package yet.

Contact US Postal Inspector and call BATF&E to give them a heads up.

Without serial numbers what do you expect them to do?? UPS and postal workers KNOW what a company does so therefore what's more than likely being shipped to or from them. Might was well list contents on the outside of the package!!
Their not TOTALLY stupid don't ya know...... They just act that way when we deal with them....

The only time I shipped a gun USPS the clerk took a giant sharpie and wrote "FIREARM" all over the box. It arrived safely and all I can figure is that it looked so much like bait that nobody bit.

USPS PI theft seriously, at least they will have a report filed, there could be more going on then these two slides missing, yes no serial numbers on the slides.
Lot of temporary postal workers handling the mail these days.

This is the point I'm trying to make, filing a "report" isn't accomplishing squat but killing another tree and sucking up filing space. The slides are unidentifiable and even if you caught someone holding it in their hand you can't prove it's YOUR slide.
To me LW is responsible, they signed for it. The shipping weight should have been on the postage label and if the package didn't weigh what the label says it should they shouldn't have signed until they opened it. Any signs of tampering and open before you sign. LW is on the hook IF you press the issue.....

My imported pistols and rifles from Italy and Germany have s/n in three places, my domestic models only on frame.
Billy is right, they have better things to do, at least you reported it stolen in the mail.
